What SPORTS Did You Watch Today? - 2019

Watching the first inning of the Cards @ Giants.

Probably won't last more than another inning or so.  I hate these West Coast trips.

Watching the Phillies and Mets.

Watching the Yankees/Rays since STL doesn't start for another hour.  I HATE the West Coast trips; I've seen my Cardinals live exactly ONCE in the past 9 days.

Watching the Pirates beating the Brewers 12-2 in the top of the 9th.

Watching the Dbacks @ St. Louis. 

They just recapped the Angels' combined no-hitter last night on "Tyler Skaggs Night".

Amazing...the Angels scored 7 runs in the first and thirteen overall; Skaggs' birthday was 7/13.  And when was the last combined no-hitter thrown by a California team?  On 7/13 the year Skaggs was born.

Watching the Dodgers and Red Sox.

Watched the Cardinals win the rubber game in the series against the D-Backs.

Wainwright was vintage Wainwright going 7 innings and allowing no runs on 4 hits while fanning 7.  Old "Uncle Charlie" was really working today; his curveball is classic when it's right.

Typical Pirates. Playing well going into the All Star break, taking 3 of 4 from the Cubs then 2 of 3 from the Brewers, then come back from the break and get swept by the Cubs. I swear they do this every year.

Watching the Pirates vs Cardinals.

It's 5-0 Cards in the 5th.  The Cards were making Musgrove work; he threw over 100 pitches in less than 5 innings.

I caught the end of that Pirates and Cards game. I saw Dickerson bumbling around in the outfield

Yeah he was pretty brutal out there.  At least it probably didn't actually affect the outcome of the game, just the score because Miles Mikolas was dealing last night.  Mikolas said he spent the All Star break studying clips of his motion from last year and he thinks he found something he's been doing wrong this season.  Based on throwing a complete game shutout last night I'd say he's correct.  Or it could just be a fluke.

I'm watching the Cardinal pre-game show and they said the Pirates are starting a rookie pitcher the Cards have never seen before so I'm calling it now...Pirates win.

At least the guy is a righthander which gives STL a small chance but they're still going to make the kid look like a Cy Young winner.  If he was a southpaw they'd make him look like Cy Young himself.

And so far this game is going as expected.  1-0 Pirates in the 5th.

You called the game correctly. I thought for sure the Pirates bullpen would end up blowing it, especially when Liriano came in. He's been terrible this year.

Today the Pirates bullpen did blow it.  Decent enough start by Archer going 6+ and allowing 3 earned runs.  But with the Pirates up 4-3 in the 8th the pen coughed up a 3 run HR to Goldschmidt (who FINALLY seems to be heating up) and Cards held on for a 6-5 win.

Missed it because of it being a day game. Glad I did.

Watching the Cards @ Reds.

Reds jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 4 but after a Tommy Edman grand slam it's now 7-3 Cardinals in the 6th.

Holy crap!

I was watching the Cardinals @ Reds and it was 7-0 Reds after 5 innings so I figured the hell with it and switched over to Master Chef.   In between commercials I switched back to the game to find it was 7-6 Reds.  I just watched the Cards score another run on an error to tie it up then saw Jose Martinez hit a 3 run bomb.  The Cards had a 10-run 6th and now lead the game 10-7 after 5 1/2; somehow I have the feeling this isn't nearly over.

EDIT:  It's now 12-9 Cards in the bottom of the 9th and the Reds have runners on first & second with 2 out.

EDIT2: Good grief, it's now 12-11.

EDIT3:  12-11 Final.  No wonder my blood pressure is high...

^^^ I saw that score on the scoreboard at PNC Park. I sat out in the heat and watched a pathetic outing by the Pirates in a 6-1 loss to the Phillies. Good God have they looked awful since the All Star Break.

Watched the Yankees bomb the Rockies today while I waited for the A/C guy to show up for my biannual maintenance.  Good timing since we're in the middle of a heatwave.

Watching the Nationals and Braves.

Cards @ Reds.

1-1 in the 7th.

Cards ended up taking 3 of 4 in Cincy.

Now watching Cards @ Pirates.

1-0 Cardinals in the third on a homerun by Matt Wieters.

That's the guy's 8th HR in about 100 AB.  It's amazing to me that the Cardinals were the only team interested in this guy.

Got the Cards and Pirates on. Currently 2-2 In the bottom of the 5th.
