I think Tate's voice still sounds pretty good. He could do a great Empire-like album with the right songwriter and backing band. But it won't happen.
I bought this new album from QUEENSRYCHE and instantly regretted it. It has some good tracks but overall is very dull and safe.
Tate solo is terrible, and Todd-Ryche is just boring.
Not sure why ToB bought the album. I could have told him he'd dislike it. Haha.
As for you, Shawn, I think you should give them a good listen at some point. That you find them boring is surprising to me, knowing a lot of what you do like, you know. I wonder if all the band drama and your love of early Ryche/Tate has got you a bit jaded.
Maybe not, of course; but seriously, if you'd never said anything I would have assumed you'd really dig the Toddryche albums.
Anyway, for those interested:
Good tune, but not one I'd have chosen for a new single. I'd have gone with "Hellfire."

"Hellfire" is a great track. I spun this album again this past weekend. Still dig it.

The Tateryche/Toddryche flame wars are the absolute worst. I thought the Metallica vs. Megadeth fuckheads were silly, but they're usually 13-14 years old, these people are in their late 40's.
Opinions are one thing, but I hate those sexually-repressed housewives that write in on YouTube saying how spiritually connected they are to Geoff's lyrics whilst bashing Todd for being a terrible singer - it's ridiculous.

DakotaRogers, that's one of the reasons why I don't post on Youtube. Another reason is comments like this one (from a month ago) referring to Vicious Rumors "Digital Dictator"
"Easily one of the most underrated bands. Billion superior than Metallica"
I am with the poster on the first sentence, but not on the second. Maybe it's me, but it's 2016. Are people still that butt hurt over Lars and the Napster thing or the St. Anger album?

Except the last two! Haha. Although I tend to think the Toddryche albums have their own unique sound compared to past Ryche albums.

Listen. Geoff not sounding horrible.
Although now that I hear the full version it's clear that he's getting a little help from Tobias on the more powerful bits. Still, Geoff hasn't sounded this good in ages.

Speaking of Geoff not sounding horrible...just kidding, this is beyond horrible.
I'm not sure what's worse, Geoff, the band, or their horrendous backing vocals. "Screaming in Digital" is an absolute joke. It's like they tried to learn the song in the dressing room five minutes before going on stage.

I'm sure he'd much rather play RfO stuff than the 2 previous releases.

I think it goes to show how amazing the new Queensryche is that this whole thread is about a guy who hasn't been in the band for ages!

That's sad, really. The talent that Tate once possessed has downgraded to this.

People paid for this, huh? At least when he was in his burlesque show phase, you could see some titties or something.

It has the look of a Casino show and sometimes those are free. I know that the Mohegan Sun Casino in Conn. has the Wolf Den shows and those are always free. In fact, I saw Toddryche there for gratis the end of last summer.

I was wrong, I guess people did pay for this. After a quick search of the phrase written on the tapestry behind the drummer reveals it to be the Canyon Club in Cali.

Why can't these musicians figure out how to play the damn songs? I mean...are they even close on "Screaming in Digital?" Haha.

Maybe they are taking a page from the Allman Brothers Band and play the songs different every night ? Improv maybe ?

I think I said something akin to this a few pages back, but Tate should have stayed with the cabaret/ burlesque thing as that seems to be where his heart really is. We all know that (a Tate led) Queensryche hasn't been Metal since the eighties and he hasn't wanted to be even Hard Rock since the late 1990's so he should just do what makes him happy. I know he wants the name recognition that comes with Queensryche but at the cost of consistently embarrassing himself? If I were him, I would have done something totally different and done the music that is in my heart. Something akin to what Ritchie Blackmore did. I know that Blackmore's Night doesn't sell like the proverbial hotcakes but the man seems happy. Well, as happy as RB usually is.

They could try and pass off that excuse for sub-par performances, but I don't think they're fooling anyone. Does Geoff really strike you as an "improve-jam-band-sorta guy"?

Yes, the only small differences between Tate and Blackmore's Night being
a) Blackmore's Night have an amazing singer. b) Ritchie is a phenomenal musician. c) They surround themselves with professionals.
You might not like what Ritchie is doing but he does it damned well. Can you see the people this deluded idiot surrounds himself with pulling this off?

I have no problem with what RB does now as it appears he is genuinely happy with it and with doing it. And, you are absolutely correct on all 3 points about the differences. My point is that Blackmore is doing something totally different than his former band mates while Tate is trying to outdo his former mates. And he keeps failing at it.
