Look, most of the folks who go to see these old classic bands are drones who want to re-live their youth and hear all the classics, regardless of how good or bad the new material is, they couldn't care less about it. Same thing w/Saxon, many of us love their latter albums, but go to any show of theirs and you are going to hear very few cuts from those, w/few exceptions. Even in the late 80's when I saw Sabbath on the "Headless Cross" tour, 3 cuts from that lp and none from "Eternal Idol." When folks went to see Robert Plant back in the day they all wanted "Zeppelin Man!" Remember all the flack Maiden got when they were playing mostly new material a while back, and what they did about it? Go on the massive "Somewhere Back in Time" tour!
Maiden - bad example, And the complaints where mostly in the US - not as much so in Europe.
As if anything outside the U.S. matters...
Maiden played four sold out shows and performed to some 55,000 people in Sweden alone on the A Matter of Life and Death tour. I didn't hear that much complaint either. And, as pointed out, the following tour was already planned. They've been on this new album tour - history tour switching route since Bruce and Adrain's return.
Sounds about right. I will say, the all of the Book of Souls tracks they played went over really well live last summer in the US (did 5 gigs). Especially the title track and The Red and The Black - which is pretty amazing feat considering a band this far along in there career can get American audiences to sing along to a new track that is 15 minutes long.
The few that complained can wait until next summer when the hits tour comes to town.....

Nice cover art. Hope the new album packs some seriously heavy/fast stuff 🤘.

Seriously? That cover art is shittaaaaay! I mean, it's not awful, but it doesn't fit this band. And that's the same exact image of a scale on both sides, just angled differently. That's some amateurish crap right there.
The last one had terrible Photoshopped nonsense for a cover as well.

Hmmm...on the fence with this one. I like it, but...the transitions from verse to pre-chorus to chorus sound abrupt, like ideas were mashed together a la recent Metallica.
Good song, though, but there other samples they released to those who pre-ordered and those songs sound way better. Also this mix sounds muddier than the samples they've released.
And I think it's safe to say that's not Scott on the drums. There are some moments that sound like him, so I may be wrong, but overall I don't hear his style. =(

Decent song, nothing too different from the last albums.

New track sounds OK. Will require additional listens.
Rumor has it that Todd L. played drums on the album in addition to singing. Geez, at this rate they might as well just give him the keys to the whole damn band.

Agreed. I will have to "spend more time" with this track and see if it just clicks. Even if it doesn't, it's only one song. As for the comment about Todd running the whole show...maybe? It is starting to look that way. If Rockenfield is gone, then the remaining two originals may be stepping back and letting Todd's younger creative juices flow. Even with the medium of social media, we will never really know what goes on "behind the scenes" and in the actual band camp.

Fine by me. He's doing a far better job than Tate. Haha.
This song has grown on me. I like it quite a bit and it doesn't sound as disjointed as when I first heard it. Wonder if it sounded off to me because the sample clip they released included bits from other songs and I, for whatever reason, expected those parts to be in this one. Who knows?
I dig it, though, and like I mentioned, the other samples released sound excellent.

Is it weird that all of the La Torre era Queensryche reminds me of the first 2 full length albums in sound and writing while anything new form Tate's group reminds me of the Empire era in style and attitude?

This new song they released is amazing!!! It only took 32 years for them to release something this good since Operation: Mindcrime!!! I hated everything after Empire but I thought Empire was decent. Now I am really looking forward to this new album!!!

Sentinel, I was listening to Rage for Order and then this new song and was thinking along the same lines. As for Tate, I don't think he sounds like Empire that much, more like Promised Land and after though there are glimpses of earlier stuff at times.

I don't think Tate's stuff sounds like anything from the DeGarmo years. Maybe a bit of Promised Land here and there without the quality songwriting, but to me it's all an extension of the Q2K/Tribe stuff, just worse. Haha.

A few songs were decent but I feel it could have been better. Nothing on those last 2 albums hit me like this new song does.

I definitely think the first one could have been better, but Condition Human was, save for a song or two, pretty great. I have high hopes for this new one. They've been on the right trajectory, at least...
