KISS coming to the "End of the Road?"

Could this be the beginning... of the end?

The KISS corporation filed a trademark application to apply the term "End of the Road" to as-yet-unspecified "entertainment services," including "live performances by a musical band."

Needless to say, the KISS fanboys are already going berserk on social media.

"OMG! It's the final FINAL tour! I know a guy who knows a guy who knows Gene's pool boy's cousin, and HE sez he heard that it's gonna be ALL the surviving members on stage, past and present, including Vinnie Vincent and Ace and Peter, and they're gonna play one big show that lasts for seventeen hours and blah blah blah..."

(I exaggerate slightly for humorous effect but that's pretty much what some of the posts sounded like.)

Of course, this could just be the KISS guys staking a claim on that tour name to keep it "on hold" so nobody snipes it till they're ready, but I guess we'll see.

I doubt it's a publicity stunt.

- Gene is 68 years old. Any sort of final tour would take him to 70.
- Paul is 66 years old, has younger kids than Gene, and is into his painting and his soul music band
- If they're trademarking "End Of The Road", they're gonna wrap it up with a huge 2-year world tour, milk the hell out of it, and be gone

It may have been a publicity stunt 20 years ago, when they were all under 50 years old...but not now.

Yeah I think it truly will be the "End Of The Road". Well, they had a hell of a run. We got a lot of good music out of them.

Gene has figured out that a lot of bands are getting old and wants to cash in on it. Unless he gets paid none of them will be allowed to quit!

I remember they actually had a "Farewell Tour" back in 2000, but it was later revealed it was only the last time the original lineup would be touring together.

Regardless, with so many famous performers announcing that this is going to be their farewell tour already in 2018, this may very well be known as "The Year of the Farewell Tour".

Where Kiss is involved I do not believe any of this "last tour" stuff.

I don't doubt the end of the road is near, KISS have had a great run and they may want to hang up their platform boots. But til they make a formal announcement I won't believe a thing.

What is the last decent album they released? I'd say Revenge, and that is over 25 years ago. And those two imposters wearing Ace and Peter's makeup is beyond lame. At least Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent had their own identity/character.

I could see KISS "retiring" the costumes and grand stage shows and just scaling things back to the 4 of them going on stage in smaller venues and maybe playing deeper tracks without all the bells and whistles. Sorta like they've been doing on the cruises and conventions.

I could see them being replaced by lifelike robotic duplicates, ala "Kiss Meets the Phantom."

During an appearance on "America's Got Talent" season 13 finale earlier tonight (Wednesday, September 19), KISS confirmed that it will embark on its "farewell" tour, dubbed "One Last Kiss: End Of The Road World Tour", in 2019. The news was delivered in trademark larger-than-life KISS style with a blistering performance of "Detroit Rock City", proving why the band is known as one of the most iconic live performances that simply can't be missed.

Said KISS frontman Paul Stanley: "This is gonna be our last tour. It will be the most explosive, biggest show we've ever done. People who love us, come see us. If you've never seen us, this is the time. This will be the show."

How can it REALLY be the end?

They haven't franchised yet or painted up tribute band guys to play the roles of Gene and Paul, while they sit at home and collect the cash?

I may be a Kiss fan boy but even I have to admit this is way overdue.

Can't they just hire younger band members, paint their faces and keep going forever?

You could have a female band member. And a black guy for diversity.

I don't believe they'll go away completely though. They'll continue to perform, either as KISS or solo stuff, but without the costumes and stage effects. It's time to put all that stuff to rest. Until they hire 4 new people to take up the roles and present it as "The Live KISS Experience".

Time for fans to jump ship and support "Vinnie Vincent's KISS featuring Robert Fleishmann and 4 electric songs".

I believe this it, they have nothing to prove and their music will continue to be packed, repacked etc for decades to come
