I'm sorry to hear that. But you're still young. |

...Have you never even tasted it...? Didn't your dad always give you a sip of his beer, before you opened your coke, while you watched movies...? - ...I miss those days

My higher power, God, has never told me to stay away completly from alcohol, but he surely has told me to not get drunk. The first time was drinking a whole bottle of Boones Farm Strawberry Hill, the next day I felt like I was going to die (I had to go to work the next day). The second time (really final time) was when I had eaten like 3 whoppers w/ cheese had a beer, then liquor, then champagne. I tossed in my backyard in almost a complete circle (days later my dad noticed a discolored spot in the grass). I learned the hard way how much it sucks, IMO, to be drunk and even though there were some times later where I got close (i.e. a buzz) since I became a Christian I have about one drink a week on average (if that) and never enough to make any difference.

Lay off the Boone's farm - lol. I agree that God never said don't drink. Heck, even Jesus turned water into wine - and it wasn't some lower alcohol wine, it was pure wine, stronger than beer wine!Probable a pretty darn good wine too!

Sake is AWFUL. The one time I tried it I spewed red, white and blue for nearly a day afterward. Terrible, nasty tastin' stuff going down, and it tasted even worse comin' back up. Avoid, avoid, avoid!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I'm a fan of just about any lager, many ales, but I HATE stouts (like Guinness). Best beer I've ever had was a South African one called Castle Lager (my wife is South African.....make the connection). She heard about some South African resturant down in Buckhead (JUST above Atlanta), Georgia. Place was called 10 degrees South. I had a plate of ostrich (a lot like steak, but slightly sweeter and almost NO fat at all) and a couple Castle Lagers for dinner that night. Expensive, but worth it! _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

Yea, I'm not big on stouts either. Too bitter, Guinness tastes like cold coffee to me. Yuck. And they're so damned THICK! You shouldn't have to CHEW a beer... I've occasionally been offered a "Black & Tan" (a stout mixed with lager or ale to "lighten" it a little) and those seem to go down a little smoother than straight-up stout. Saranac brews a pretty good Black & Tan. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Foster's claim that their name is "Australian for beer," but several Aussie friends of mine tell me that down under it's considered "Australian for Urine" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I am feeling a bit experimental tonite. On the menu this evening is the first appearance of : Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat
As I am a newbie to the whole witbier thing, I am excited about this one. It is brewed in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. We'll see if Americans can make a good wheat beer.....review to follow....

| Mmmm. Leinenkugel makes good stuff. I haven't tried the one you indicated here, Spec, but I've visited Wisconsin a couple of times in the past and drank enough of their regular plain ol' Leinenkugel to float a battleship. Tasty.
Wisconsin has very good cheese as well. Mmmmm, cheeeeeeeeeese. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

After the first dozen or so, your taste buds go dead and you don't notice the taste anymore anyway. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
