Bride Of Re-Animator(1990)-Eight months after the events in the first film, Dr West and Dr Cain are at it again, experimenting on the dead with their syringes of glowing, green fluid that brings the dead back to life. This time, they are focusing on bring a woman back to life, using spare body parts from other bodies, including the heart of Dr Cain's deceased girlfriend. All the while, a rather sleazy detective is closing in on the doctors and hoping to put a stop to them. While this sequel is nowhere near as great as the first film and was obviously made for a lot less money, it isn't a total dud. The gore isn't as plentiful as it was in the first movie, nor was it done as well. All in all, it's worth a least a watch, but I doubt I'll be revisting this movie like I do with the first one. I give it 2 out of 5 chainsaws. Followed by another sequel Beyond Re-Animator.

"A Christmas Horror Story"
I think this has supplanted "Santa's Slay" as my favorite holiday movie, mainly because I've seen Santa's Slay a million times and I only acquired ACHS last year.

Dawn Of The Dead (2004)
Remake of the horror classic directed by Hack Snyder. Not a bad picture but I much prefer the original.

Yeah it was pretty cool. I caught the first part but switched it over to the Exorcist. I'll catch the 2nd part when I get the chance.

"Too Funny To Fail" (2017)
A behind-the-scenes look at the strange saga of 1996's "The Dana Carvey Show," in which the "SNL" star tried to bring hip, late-night style counterculture sketch comedy to prime time... and failed miserably. However, after its legendary crash-and-burn many of the show's young, unknown supporting cast and staff members ended up going on to much bigger things in the 2000s, like Steve Carell, Louis C.K. and Stephen Colbert. I had only the vaguest memories of the "Dana Carvey Show," but this doc is packed with plenty of clips from the program to fill in the gap. "Too Funny to Fail" is an entertaining study of a show that was too hip for the room in '96 but would probably be a pretty big hit if it premiered today.

"The Image Revolution" (2014)
In 1992, seven of Marvel Comics' biggest artists abruptly left to start their own independent company - Image Comics. Todd McFarlane, Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri and their friends ended up changing the comic book industry landscape forever when titles like Spawn, Youngblood, WildC.A.T.S.,The Savage Dragon, and CyberForce became instant best sellers and left "the big two" comic companies eating Image's dust. The ride didn't last forever, though, and this documentary shows not only their rapid rise, but their near-collapse in the late 90s and subsequent rebirth in the '00s thanks to new hits like The Walking Dead. Overall this is a cool, entertaining history lesson for comic fanboys.

I agree. It's not terrible but it's completely unnecessary IMO.

The slow reveals in both episode were awesomely ridiculous! They drew those montages out for an eternity even though I had it figured out--but I'm not complaining because it was done so well and stung hard regardless.

With my 10 year old on a rainy after-school afternoon:
"Ratchet & Clank" (2016)
A mechanically-inclined space critter and his robot pal are recruited into the mighty Galaxy Rangers to help beat a super villain with a planet-destroying device. Colorful, goofy sci-fi cartoon action fluff based on the Playstation video game series - which I am not familiar with but my son loves, so he laughed all the way through this. File this one under "harmless fun for kids, painless for their parents."

Hatchet(2006)-When a group of tourist boat sinks while in the swamps of Louisiana, they must try to find their way out alive. They soon find themselves stalked and hunted down by a deformed madman named Victor Crowley(Kane Hodder) who slaughters his victims in very graphic, gory ways. The filmmakers where obviously trying to make an old school style slasher with all the classic clichés like hot, slutty girls, dumb dialogue and a horribly deformed killer. They at least did a decent job with this. Of course there was nothing original at all about this movie, but it's a solid way to kill(har har) 90 minutes. I give it 2.5 hatchets out of 5. Review is based on the unrated cut.

Pee Wee's Big Holiday
Flipping through Netflix with the girls, we came across this. We all giggled and to be silly started watching...and were immediately roped in!
I was very surprised!! This hearkened back to the early 80's. The jokes landed, the absurdity struck just the right nerves. We laughed constantly through the whole thing.

We watched 'The Pee Wee Playhouse Christmas Special' last night. It's slowly becoming a Christmas tradition. Although I really do have a hard time explaining to my kids who Charro, Grace Jones and Dinah Shore are to my kids. I can't even figure out why Dinah Shore was on originally in 1987 for that matter.

I love this movie! It's so warped on so many levels. This and "A Christmas Horror Story" have become my new favorite "holiday" movies.
