Basket Case-Dewayne and Belial, two formerly conjoined brothers, seek revenge on the doctors that separated them when they were young while staying at a skid row hotel in New York City. Sleazy, gory and in very bad taste, this has always been a personal favorite of mine through the years. Written and directed by cult exploitation filmmaker Frank Henenlotter. Followed by two sequels. I give it 3.5 chainsaws out of 5.

I actually saw Basket Case in the theaters back in the day. When you bought a ticket you received a "surgical mask" with the Basket Case logo on it..."to keep the blood off". I wish I still had that thing.

I wish you could still get cool promos like that when you go to the movies.

Henenlotter actually mentioned the surgical mask gimmick on the DVD commentary. I would have tried to have held on to that.

Train To Busan (2016)
South Korean zombie flick about a divorced man and his daughter trapped aboard a high speed train during a zombie outbreak. Pretty much a run of the mill zombie film but the characterization is good and makes it a good watch. The subtitled version is available on Netflix.

Coming soon, the Americanized version called "Plane to Tuscon" about a divorced woman and her son aboard a Southwest flight during a zombie outbreak. Pretty much a run of the mill zombie film with no characterization whatsoever but featuring a bunch of no-name actors who can't act and a lot of unfunny one-liners. Rated PG-13.

I've been slackin' on the movie watching this past week... time to get back on the horse!
"Dark Universe" (1993)
After a space shuttle crashes in the Florida Everglades, a recovery team encounters the toothy, slime emitting extra-terrestrial that caused the crash in the first place. Naturally, he's in the mood for a few human snacks after his long space journey. This ultra-cheap "Alien"/"Predator" wanna-be was produced by schlock kingpin Fred Olen Ray and it basically has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Ignore unless you have an extremely high tolerance for bad movie pain.

Dracula (1931)
The Universal classic that kicked off their horror trend. Bela Lugosi stars in his iconic role (surprisingly he only played him on film twice) as the vampiric count who comes to Victorian England in search of new blood. Moody and atmospheric, this is a pretty good movie for being 86 (!) years old.

It's been a cold, damp, clammy "stay inside and watch movies" kinda day around here...
"Casino Royale" (2006)
Daniel Craig's first turn as James Bond serves as a "gritty reboot" for the veteran spy series. Bond has just been given his "double-0" designation and on his first mission he romances the lovely Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) and takes on a terrorist financier known as "Le Chiffre" in a high stakes poker tournament. This is only the second time I've seen "C.R." so I still haven't quite decided where it ranks in the overall Bond pantheon, but it was a damn fine suspense thriller.
and then for something completely different...
"Star Crash" (1979)
Ace star pilot and all around space hottie Stella Starr is hired by the Emperor of the Universe to search for a missing galactic prince and stop the evil Zarth Arn (Boo! Hiss!) from taking over the galaxy with a new super weapon. Cheap special effects, terrible acting, and WTF dialogue ensues. This candy-colored, totally over the top Italian "Star Wars" knock off introduced me to the wild 'n' wacky world of European exploitation flicks when I was a wee lad and I've loved it ever since. Make no mistake, this movie is crap, but it's totally awesome crap.

From Russia With Love (1963)
Connery's second outing as James Bond has him tangled up in a SPECTRE plot to discredit the agent and embarrass MI6 as well as stealing and reselling a decoding device to the Soviets. Sweet little spy flick with just a small amount of what would become standard Bond fare (gadgets, Q branch, and the last ditch effort on Bond's life by the lead henchman). These films never get old to me.

Both of the statements below are true. Which one is more unbelievable to you movie fans:
1) I have never seen Star Wars nor any of its sequels and/or predecessors
OR...
2) I have never seen a single minute of any James Bond film unless it was part of a music video

#2. I figured everyone around my age or older had to have at least seen one James Bond flick, especially considering the spy craze the Bond flicks kickrdoff in the 60s.

When I analyze the movies most people have seen and the movies I have seen I realize how truly weird I am.

"Graduation Day" (1981)
After a high school track star suddenly drops dead during a race, a mysterious black-gloved slasher starts picking off the rest of her teammates. Could the killer be the dead girl's sister? Perhaps it's her heartbroken boyfriend, or the creepy track coach? Will any of them survive till Graduation Day? This was a pretty typical early '80s slasher movie, it's watchable but nothin' special. Sharp eyed viewers may notice a young, pre-"Wheel of Fortune" Vanna White (!) in a bit part, which is really the only notable thing about this flick.
