| I was only ever a casual fan of the band, but here it goes:
http://loudwire.com/steven-tyler-confirms-aerosmith-2017-farewell-tour/
I was reading the apocryphal book of Sirach and one verse goes: "Forsake not an old friend; for the new is not comparable to him; A new friend is as new wine; when it is old, thou shalt drink it with pleasure."
It made me realize how fortunate Tyler is to have managed this long with his band mates. They've acquired so much experience together. They know each other's musical persona inside and out. Very tough to replace that kind of harmony you've formed with a whole new band. This is true about most long-running bands, in fact. This is considering the fame, pressure, and every other hardship that goes with pursuing their passion. Talent is one thing, but motivation and strength is a whole 'nother factor that makes relationships among band mates more unpredictable. Let us take this lesson to heart.

| I haven't cared for much of their post '80s work but hell, they've had a good run and certainly deserve a well earned retirement. Fare thee well, fellas. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I am not surprised, not because of their age, but Steven Tyler seems so intent on launching his solo career at the expense of his band. I do not blame Steven Tyler for wanting to try something new, thou I do feel this new direction is ill advised and personally am going to miss the band, and have feeling so will Mr Tyler in time. | |

| I haven't really been "on board" with these guys since the early '90's but if the timing and price is right, I wouldn't mind seeing them as they still put on a good show and it's still the original line up. Good point, muckie, about the long running bands. I think the money is why a lot of people stick it out, even though they are miserable. | |

| Cant say I am surprised Steven Tyler has made mention and shown desire to go solo. Aerosmith as an entity might be retiring but i wouldnt be surprised if Joe Perry went back to being solo
Speaking of Aerosmith Joey Kramer's coffeehouse opens I think friday in North Attleborough MA (90 mins from me and my inlaws live there) I intend to be checking this place out

He seems like he thinks he's an American Idol pop singer ever since he did that American Idol show. The fact remains, he is not nor will he ever be. He is a rock singer which is completely different than the garbage cranked out by the pop machine. They are looking for clones, of which Tyler does not fit. If Steven would have tried out for American Idol as an unknown singer, he never would have made the show. He has a unique voice and a charismatic style, but again, that isn't what modern pop/country is looking for. If they come my way I'll probably go see this final tour. Always loved Aerosmith. The 70's and early 80's were my favorite time for the band but I even like the more pop albums that others don't like. (However, their last studio album was mostly a travesty.) _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I read Joey Kramer's book. He was the last guy to detox. He had it the worst in the band...shrinks, crying, depression, dad treated him bad issues. Perry an Tyler were it. The other musicians suffered. They all partied extreme though. I read that same line in Sirach, about 3 weeks ago. I also read in the same book to have no dealings with female musicians - lol Tyler and Nugent and eh hm Bret Micheals, were suppose to do Lacaniafest , motorcycle gathering in NH..... A few 1000 people milled about...tickets went to 5 bucks...... Enemy Remains PAID to play....gig was cancelled ...want money back Promoter can't be found ...Laconia want $60,000 for police, met coverage, fire trucks Tyler sang and performed though.....fiasco.... | |

| Anybody read that article in yahoo.... That Joe Perry doesn't agree with Tyler ... What else is new. There were a few things in Tyler's book.....that struck me as being odd. But this, without a band mutual total decision, is thee oddest. Tyler should just say he's flat out quitting....etc....

| Steven Tyler reportedly suffer some sort of seizure while on tour with Aerosmith in South America. The remaining dates have been cancelled and Steven flew home to the States for treatment. - Quote :
- The Boston Globe reports that a source close to the band said Tyler had suffered a seizure, a clarification of a medical issue Tyler didn’t identify earlier this week. “Please not to worry,” Tyler wrote. “I am not in a life-threatening condition, but I need to deal with this right away and get some rest and medical care immediately in order to sustain and maintain my future performances. I promise I’ll be back. Unfortunately, health does not wait and it’s something even I can’t schedule around our shows. As they say, ‘We humans make plans, and God laughs.’ I love you all and will be back with you soon.”

| My first experience with Aerosmith was when Sweet Emotion came on the radio one fine summer day. I was 12. It has remained my favorite tune of theirs ever since. I think I'll throw it on the turntable tonight, because I gotta admit--this statement has made me a tad sentimental.
And I feel old haha. | |

| I am sure he will recover, but Steven Tyler is 69 years old, ex- druggies, a shag-olic and his body is probably paying for all that damaged he inflicted on it so many years ago.
Plus his feet, have been operated and operated on. They are apparently misshapen and give him a great deal of pain.

And I feel old haha. Tom Hamilton is a damn good bass player. What I like about his playing on Sweet Emotion is how thick his tone is and how he does his own groove throughout the whole song and then on that last verse he follows the guitar. For some reason that reeks of badassery to me.

Their studio output has been dodgy for quite some time, but they can still fill arenas, especially outside of the US. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Tyler has since denied having a seizure (or heart attack), however whatever the medical emergency was, it was serious enough to cancel shows and fly home... - Quote :
- Tyler has since tweeted a statement clarifying his status and explaining the reasons for the remainder of the tour being called off.
He wrote: "It breaks my heart to have left this tour early. The band has never played better — just watch the hundred thousand people at Rock In Rio.
"I give you all an A+ for creative speculations but I certainly did not have a heart attack or a seizure (unless Joe Perry is takin' a rippin' lead).
"Sorry to have cut the tour short, but I had to have a procedure that only my doc in thr States could perform.
"We've been to Tel Aviv, to Russia, to Rio, and all the in between… I guess it's true what they say... that life's a pisser when Eu're A Peein'..." _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
