| I watched Mike Leake suck again. He hasn't had a good outing yet. Cardinal announcers are making excuses saying things like "Historically, April is always his worst month". Well it better be because he's been a total bust so far. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| No local teams on right now so I'm watching the Nationals at Cardinals. Nat's are winning 4-1 in the top of the 6th. | |

| Garcia pitched well after that horrible first inning but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because the offense didn't how up. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| And the Cardinals lose again. Martinez and Scherzer were dueling for 5 innings but then the Nationals exploded. Looks like it's going to be a long season...
Now flipping over to the Blues/Stars game. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

That fight was short but good with both guys going down again. Berto won by knocking Ortiz down twice in the 4th. Ortiz got back up but you could tell he was on dream street. The ref asked him if he wanted to continue and Ortiz just stared at him so the ref called it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

From what I've seen of the Cards, they seem a bit off this season. They're resilient though. They'll bounce back.

| And the Pirates lose in 11 innings. 4 errors and poor bullpen pitching will do that. Up next? A 3 game series with the Cubs. | |

| This is a great time of year to be a sports fan. NHL playoffs, NBA playoffs, MLB in full swing and the NFL draft. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

From what I've seen of the Cards, they seem a bit off this season. They're resilient though. They'll bounce back. They've been totally upside-down from a "typical" Cardinal team. The starting pitching which was supposed to be a strength has instead been spotty at best. The defense which is usually a Cardinal forte has been worse than atrocious; they lead MLB with 24 errors. And the hitting, which was supposed to be the Achilles heel is tied for 3rd in MLB in homeruns and is averaging over 5 runs per game. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I must be a jinx. I flipped over to the Blues game and STL was leading 3-1 in the third period. Now we're going to OT tied at 3.
EDIT: I guess I'm not a jinx after all. I just watched the Blues win 4-3 in overtime. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I saw the game between the Blues and Stars.
I actually heard the P.A. playing "The Headless Children" by W.A.S.P. and "Madhouse" by Anthrax; pretty surprising.

| Watching the Pirates vs the second coming of Cy Young and the Cubs. Good god do the Pirates look pathetic.John Niese, who's pitched rather well up to this point, has liked awful. Hit batter, numerous walks will not help you beat the Cubs. 6-0 in the top of the 5th | |

Much as it pains me to admit it, the Cubs DO look like they're all they were cracked up to be. They've been losers for so long that I really don't resent them winning except for the fact that Theo Epstein (former Bosox GM) put this team together and they're managed by Joe Maddon (who I think people worship as a guru even though I've always thought he's a dick) I sure wish the Cardinals and Pirates would finish ahead the the Schlubs by season's end but is sure doesn't look very likely at this point of the season. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

There was some scuttlebutt going around here when the Pirates were looking for a new manager (and ultimately hired Clint Hurdle) to hire Maddon. I'm so glad they didn't because he is, like you said, a dick. The other night's game had a few hit batters. Kyle Lobstein nailed a Cub player (an inning or 2 after a Bucco got beaned) causing Maddon to climb out of the dugout yelling expletives at Hurdle. It's just good clean baseball when his team does it, it's dirtier than shit when an opposing team does it.
