- I have 3 Days Of the New discs (and yeah they all have that same goofy tree album cover but in different colors). I haven't played any of them in years but I remember thinking their music sounded a lot like Alice In Chains unplugged.
Finally gave that Days of the New disc a spin this morning, and yeah, I'd guess that mmmmaaayyyyybe they had kinda sorta heard of Alice In Chains, just a little. Haha. It sounds a lot like AIC's acoustic EP Jar Of Flies. Not sure if I dig it yet. It kinda went in one ear n' out the other while I was working. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| If I remember correctly DotN is pretty much one guy, Travis Meeks. I dig them in limited doses. Like a lot of bands I like them better when I hear a song here or there mixed in with other stuff. A whole album at one time starts to drone on for me. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah, Meeks was the main songwriter. Great band, pretty unique sound and style overall, I think. Shame Meeks has pretty much ruined his life with drug addiction.

Zwan - Mary Star Of The Sea Lots of $1 and $2 albums. WTH? You didn't already have those first 4? If not there's something wrong with you. And I hope you didn't pay more than $1 for that Zwan. WTF was I thinking when I bought that? I don't even like Smashing Pumpkins other than a stray song here and there and this just extrapolated on Corgan's inherent weirdness. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I don't even like Smashing Pumpkins other than a stray song here and there and this just extrapolated on Corgan's inherent weirdness. That always gets a laugh out of me too. When I see all the weird, diverse stuff that Eyesore picks up, then a few run-of-the-mill "common" metal albums show up, I chuckle and think, "Geez, what took you so long?". - Fat Freddy wrote:

Yea, that's a good one. So much better than the stuff Butch Walker put out during the South Gang years. Think more along the lines of Cheap Trick. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Still haven't had time to spin it but I've read/heard many Cheap Trick comparisons in the past, which is what convinced me to pull the trigger on it (well, that and the fact that it was 79 cents, haha). ...and yeah, Southgang sucked didn't they? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

....no response. With all due respect, that should tell you a lot. Ha, yeah well I certainly don't imagine he's itching to revisit that. And as far as I can tell, all of his projects afterwards were much more well received. I remember he did make mention of it in a jokey way in some recent lyrics...cannot remember what song or project now, but something along the lines of "She wanted to listen to some hair bands/that hits a little too close to home for me"...something like that. But I do think SG were better than "Tainted Angel" made people believe. Their second album was really good. But yeah. You know how it goes.

| South Gang just came too late to the party. The keg was kicked, the girls were gone and everyone was too busy nursing their hangovers to care for another overly-polished & styled hair band. Butch had better things on the horizon. Anyway, moving on...
Some recent additions... Burning Tree - Burning Tree* Y&T - The Best of '81 to '85* Freedom Hawk - Into Your Mind Yellow Matter Custard - One More Night in New York City (live tribute to the Beatles) Amazing Journey - One Night in New York City (live tribute to The Who) Cygnus & the Sea Monsters - One Night in Chicago (live tribute to Rush)
*re-buying these 2 after hastily ditching them some time ago. Still hate the keyboards on 'Summertime Girls' though. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.
