One of my favorite sub genres. I dig a lot of this stuff.Whiskey Myers is great! Also check out Drive by Truckers,Granger Smith,and the excellent Dirty River Boys.Heres a vid from them.

Junkyard had a lot of southern influence in there sound as well.

I've never considered myself more than a very casual fan of the genre, but I've recently been spinning a lot of Black Stone Cherry. They are much heavier than I expected them to be and quite enjoyable.
