| Yeah, there's that too.
I love how when one of Maddon's players takes out Kang, he says it was just part of the game. Then one of his pitchers drills Matt Holliday in the head with a fastball and when a Cardinal pitcher grazes one of his players in the leg it's "vigilantism". Then the next day his pitchers hit 3 Cardinals and no Cubs are hit and he says "coincidence".
Maddon's really starting to piss me off. Just be honest instead of being a hypocrite.

Even though my Dodgers lost last night their magic number is now down to 7 since the Giants lost too.

| Watched the Steelers-49ers game. Lots of offense today as the Steelers whipped them 43-18.
Now for the Pirates vs Dodgers

| Watched the Rams play down to the competition again as they were smoked by the Redskins 24-10. That's was their MO all last year.
Now I'm watching the Cardinals try to hang on to a 4-3 lead against the Cubs in the bottom of the 9th. Matheny tried to blow it in the 8th by bringing in Fatboy Broxton who promptly walked in a run. Rosenthal got the final out and is in for the save in the 9th.
And Molina sprained his thumb on a tag at the plate in the 8th. That's not good. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Cards hung on for the 4-3 win.
BTW, Rosenthal was hitting triple digits in the 9th so at least he doesn't seem to be wearing down, unlike Lynn and Wacha. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Ouch! Watching the Cowboys/Eagles game and Romo is out with a fractured clavicle.
It's odd but if I'm honest with myself I actually have to admit that I'm pulling for the Cowboys in this matchup. I so want Bradford to fail in Philly like he did in STL; the porcelain quarterback who's great as long as he has an eternity to throw the ball. Plus it's the Eagles who I grew up hating because I lived in Allentown and had them shoved down my throat all the time. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Alright, the Pirates were able to pull off another win against the Dodgers, 4-3. A couple of solo shots from Alvarez and Marte ,plus another save from Melancon, did the trick. I then turned it over to see the Ravens lose to the Raiders with less than a minute left in the game. | |

| Pirates get the win over the Rockies 9-3. Burnett pitched rather well except for a 3 run homer given up. It may never have come to that if Alvarez didn't have an bad error at first (again). That guy can crush a ball but is quite the defensive liability. | |

Yeah he sure is a tradeoff. He's the type of player who is perfectly suited to be a DH. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah he sure is a tradeoff. He's the type of player who is perfectly suited to be a DH. That's the general consensus around here about him. He's more than likely in his last year with the team.

| The Pirates beat the Rockies 13-7 to clinch a third straight playoff appearance. They had a nice 7-1 lead but the Morton meltdown occurred again and let the Rockies back into the game. They were able to score 6 runs in the top of the 9th to secure the victory. I'd love to catch the Cards but they just keep on winning and winning. | |

| Caught the last half of the Pirates-Rockies game (since it started while I was still at work). It looked bleak for the Pirates ,down 4-2 in the 8th. However, Pedro Alvarez was able to crack a line drive 3 run homer, giving the Pirates a 5-4 lead. Melancon was able to get his 50th save of the season and the Pirates move to 3 and a half games of the Cardinals (pending their game tonight). | |

| There goes "Mr. DH" again.
On balance for the season, would you say he's driven in more runs than runs he's allowed the opposition to score because of his shoddy fielding? _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Wacha starts for STL tonight. I hope he's been watching Martinez, Garcia, Lackey and Lynn in their last starts because he needs to pull it together. Hell even Lynn, whose ERA since August is something like 9.00, threw 6 scoreless innings last night. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

That actually came up in a topic on a sports blog through the local paper. Now I haven't seen any statistics to show which way it really goes, but I'd guess he's driven in more runs than he's "given" up.

| Well Wacha is off to a great start at handing the Pirates another game in the standings. As Al Hrabosky just said, it's like Wacha was thinking "Well, I can go warm up now and get ready for the 7:15 start. Except it's a 6:15 start and it's already 3-0 Brewers."
Wacha's been behind in the count to everyone. He finally got out of the first but gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks while throwing 29 pitches.
