Lemmy. If I voted otherwise, lighting would strike me down.

When I think of bass players - I often think of their gutiarist as well - they just seem to go hand on hand on stage - that's a big part of being good - fit-in-ability. Their vocals too - can be just as powerful as the bass playing - Michael Anthony should of been on the list - POW !
Someone should list the bands these guys go with. I only know Lemmy, Sixx and Pilson by name. Wasn't Jimmy Bain the dude that was in Aerosmith for a little while?
Also, I don't even know how to determine if someone is a good bass player?
Peter Baltes - Accept Jeff Pilson - Dokken Lemmy - really? Nibbs Carter - Saxon Nikki Sixx - Sixx A.M. Ian Hill - Judas Priest Joey Vera - Armored Saint Johnny Rod - WASP Jimmy Bain - DIO (he was never in Aerosmith, that was Jimmy Crespo) Tony Franklin - Blue Murder
Some of these guys played in other bands as well, but I'm assuming Sax was going for their primary roles.

Thanks, man. Now I can make my vote informed by which band I like the best. Which is still Lemmy, anyway...but at least now I know (half the battle and all).
And there was no moment there where I had to slap my head in disbelief that I didn't remember such and such guy was in a particular band. As much as I've listened to most of those bands (except Blue Murder--I still cannot find the appeal), I can honestly say I never had a clue who played bass.
I can name the singers for the bands listed...some of the guitar players. That's about it.

I tend to judge them on their ability to swing their bass around their bodies or their best bass licking techniques. Which brings to question why isn't Eric Brittingham or Rudy Sarzo on this list?
