They can't understand what James is saying???
I'd love to see their reaction to a black metal video, then

Pffft. These kids are posers. I just bought my 9 year old son a Ride the Lightning CD at Goodwill so he'd quit stealing my copy.

With Newsted saying he's been in talks with Metallica and working on a project with them it makes me wonder if he's going to re-record the bass for AJFA.

Why would he re-record it? They could just, you know, get the old tapes and turn it up. Haha.
But I hope not. That album sounds killer the way it is. They can only make it worse by f*cking with it.

So it looks like Metallica has changed-up the track listing for the deluxe versions of the new album. The bonus disc will have previously released covers and live material. Gone are the "Riff Origins", whatever they were.
Deluxe Edition (Digital Download & CD)
Disc One 01. Hardwired 02. Atlas, Rise! 03. Now That We're Dead 04. Moth Into Flame 05. Dream No More 06. Halo On Fire
Disc Two 01. Confusion 02. ManUNkind 03. Here Comes Revenge 04. Am I Savage? 05. Murder One 06. Spit Out the Bone
Disc Three (Bonus) 01. Lords of Summer (studio version) 02. Ronnie Rising Medley (DIO medley) 03. When a Blind Man Cries (Deep Purple cover) 04. Remember Tomorrow (Iron Maiden cover) 05. Helpless (Live at Rasputin Music) 06. Hit the Lights (Live at Rasputin Music) 07. The Four Horsemen (Live at Rasputin Music) 08. Ride the Lightning (Live at Rasputin Music) 09. Fade to Black (Live at Rasputin Music) 10. Jump in the Fire (Live at Rasputin Music) 11. For Whom the Bell Tolls (Live at Rasputin Music) 12. Creeping Death (Live at Rasputin Music) 13. Metal Militia (Live at Rasputin Music) 14. Hardwired (Live in Minneapolis)

Yea, and I already have the Dio and Purple cover tunes.

Now those I don't have. But I'm not even sure I'd be willing to put out the extra change just for a couple of cover tunes. Unless I can get it at a decent price, of course.

I would rather have the Riff Origins version, which I assume were demos. I don't need any more live tracks (aka reminders that James is f*cking terrible live now).

I don't have any of those cover tunes, though I've listened to the Dio medley a ton. And I love Lords of Summer, as mentioned...more into this version of the bonus disc.

I was most likely gonna buy the standard 2-disc version anyway without all the bonus crap so they can change up that 3rd disc as many times as they want, it makes no diff to me. (shrugs)

I can't imagine those Riff Origins tracks getting much repeated listening from me though. I'd play 'em through one time and that's it. The live/cover stuff stands a better chance at repeat plays.

I agree, but they'd be more interesting to me, I guess. I usually skip most live tracks when they come one unless they're the kind of band that reinterprets the songs when playing live. Rock and metal bands don't tend to do that, though.

I'm not sure which one makes me hit the skip button faster, live tracks or demos. It's a bit of a toss up.

I don't imagine it will be the case with a 2016 Metallica album, but some times raw demos are better than the final product.
But either way, at least these demos, rehashed covers and live tracks aren't being tacked onto the proper album. That's always annoying.

I imagine that riff origins would be stuff like this
ie rejected songs where there was a riff/solo/section that was rescued and plonked haphazard into another song. Metallica seem to write this way a lot which is part of their problem these days
