I like the Black Album, took me a few listens to get into it, but it's got cool riffs and great production. As good as the previous 3? Nah... but still a great listen, even if over played.
Nothing wrong with the black album. Just overplayed by radio and myself back in the day to the point where I rarely, if ever, play it myself anymore.

Oh, and what is so bad about Lars' drumming? It sounds fine to me, definitely nothing wrong with the sound of the snare - oh, and I absolutely LOVE the double bass part at the last "light it up!" bit during "Moth Into Flame", definitely the most badass part on the whole album.
While I don't think there is anything wrong with his drumming (on this album at least), it's nothing special either. Kinda like Kirk's playing these days too. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. If I were to write home about such things.

Cool. I want to see her duet with James on 'Damage Inc.'
Actually, anything rocking would be worth a view on YouTube the day after the Grammys. However if they sing 'Nothing Else Matters' or something lame, I'll roll my eyes and say, "Eh, whatever" and go about my day.

How'bout "Hardwired?" (that's the song they're nominated for, though ironically for "best Rock song," not the metal category....)
I wanna hear Gaga sing the "We're so f***ed, sh** outta luck" part.

The performance was actually pretty cool. It wasn't lame at all. They performed 'Moth to a Flame' together. It should be appearing on YouTube any minute now...
EDIT: Annnnd here you go...James' mic didn't work for the first part.

That video was taken down so here is another:
Pretty cool! The mic failure just added the slightest hint of the unpolished nature of their early shows when they would play through anything...even a complete power outage.

I thought it was a good performance with the exception of James' mic problems.

I'm not real keen on seeing them a mile away in a football stadium. Besides, I've already spent my concert allowance on Iron Maiden.

I think I'll be back in the States during that time, so I am going to try and catch the Chicago show. I've never seen them before and the new album has renewed my interest in the band.

If money and time weren't an issue, I'd go. I've seen them a few times and they always put on a good show. Watching Lars turn red as he attempts to keep the beat is always entertaining.

I saw the Death Magnetic tour in '09, which was my first Metallica show since the Black Album era, and I had to admit, they can still bring it live. I'd see them again if the opportunity came up.

My problem has been more with, who they bring with them as a support act. The last time I saw them, was on the 5 city tour in November 1998 for the last Garage Days album, which happened to be in Chicago. That was absolutely fabulous! I didn't mind Jerry Cantrell and Days of the New, when I saw them in the summer of 98, but they weren't exactly C.O.C. from the Load tour.

Ticketmaster had a Citibank cardholder presale so I was able to get a pretty good seat just now. Looking forward to this show! Pricey, but it's tax return season!

I wouldn't mind seeing them again but the tickets are out of my price range (at the very least more than I'm willing to pay).

Wow, that's crazy! The Chicago show ranged between $55 and $150. I splurged for the best seats I could get that weren't GA on the field (I'm not one for mosh pits).

Avenged Sevenfold is opening the Chicago show. I don't think I've ever heard a complete song, much less an album, by that band.
