| Here are some albums that didn't stand the test of time in my opinion.
Also, I mean stand the test of time is "Just about albums you used to really like and now they just don't sound as good to you anymore."
Warbringer -- War without end
Now, I really enjoyed this album when it first came out. I thought it was awesome. Now looking back it has some good songs but alot of filler songs. Plus the drum sound the *clicky* drums drive me nuts now. I personally think they peaked on their third album. Plus this album is stuck in the "thrash, for thrash sake."
D.R.I -- Dealing with it and the Dirty Rotten EP
Another album I used to really enjoy now it's OK but it dosen't sound as good anymore. I know many people consider this a classic but for me it got old after a while.
Gammacide -- Victims of science
I remember I used to really, really like this album. I still think it's good however maybe in my mind it was way more aggressive than when I recently listened to it. Once again it isn't bad but in my head I thought it was better.
(It's almost like that old movie you saw as a kid then years later when you see it again it isn't as good)
But hey maybe I'm totally wrong, either way what are some albums in your opinion that didn't stand the test of time?

| Pretty sure the Gammacide and D.R.I. albums had already stood the test of time before you were even born. | |

| Metallica - Death Magnetic
I think at first I was pleased that they were going back to an earlier style, it took me a while to realise that the songs were not great at all.

| Scorpions--Unbreakable
I've been listening to a bunch of Scorpions stuff in anticipation of the new album. I really liked this one when it came out in 2004. It sounds very weak now, in terms of both production, songwriting and execution.

| Tourniquet: Antiseptic Bloodbath
I love Tourniquet and have been a fanboy for years. I listened to this one a lot when it first came out and was so excited to have a new album. However, I almost never revisit it now and when I do I can't get into most of it.

| Dokken, Breaking the Chains - Aside from the title track this one has aged about as well as milk left in a hot driveway...and that's coming from someone who loves almost everything this band has done. (Even Shadowlife!)
Judas Priest, Turbo - do you really need to ask why?
Quiet Riot, Metal Health - this album was the bee's knees when I was 13 but I can barely listen to it (or this band in general) now. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Just thought of another one:
Judas Priest: Painkiller
Another one I was obsessed with when I first got it but barely listen to now.

| Guns 'N Roses - Use Your Illusion I & II - Way too much filler on these and not enough aggressive songs. They should have pared this down to a single album and used the remaining tracks as b-sides/EP tracks, etc...
Extreme - Extreme and Pornograffitti - I loved both of these albums as new releases and spun the hell out of them. I revisited them a while ago and they do nothing for me now.
Def Leppard - Hysteria - I didn't mind this album at first, but I can't stand it now. It's way too slick and overproduced.
Iron Maiden - Brave New World - I was very excited about this when it was released and spun it a bunch. I don't really like much of anything on it now other than "The Wicker Man."
Judas Priest - Jugulator - It was great to have new Priest at the time, and I still think "Bullet Train" and "Cathedral Spires" are great, but the rest of the album is forgettable. Why do most of the songs seem to have really stupid intros? Baffling.

| Very much any Anthrax has faded in poignancy over the years.
Death Magnetic had the same effect on me.
I used to enjoy 5150 as a kid but now find it stale.
Megadeth's Youthanasia, while being a very good album, doesn't sound as ingenious as when I was young. I seriously used to think that was a expertly crafted piece of art, but now I pick up on awkward parts and a lot of areas that don't quite gel.
The worst though is Cherry Pie. I spun the hell out of that tape as a kid, loved it so much and even memorized the songs. Today I can only stand three songs (Uncle Tom's Cabin, I Saw Red, and Train Train). The rest is poppy and slick, very little character.

Agree with you about the first Extreme album, that record was generic as hell even when it was new. I still like "Pornograffiti" quite a bit tho. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Well you are in luck FF, they just released a 2 Disc Deluxe Edition of it: http://www.amazon.com/Extreme-II-Pornograffitti-2CD-Deluxe/dp/B00OSU920M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424281112&sr=8-1&keywords=extreme+pornograffitti

Absolutely! - Quote :

I always thought they were ultra-generic forgettable music with great musicians. - Quote :
- Def Leppard - Hysteria - I didn't mind this album at first, but I can't stand it now. It's way too slick and overproduced.
It sounds unique though in a sea of generic 80s hard rock, especially because of the production touches. - Quote :
- Iron Maiden - Brave New World - I was very excited about this when it was released and spun it a bunch. I don't really like much of anything on it now other than "The Wicker Man."
I hated it when it first came out. Terrible songs. People give established names a pass too often and ignore too many great releases from other bands. People wanted this album to be a triumphant return to form but it just wasn't. They can't wish it into being good. - Quote :

Totally agree about the "modern" intros. I would consider "Burn in Hell" a great metal tune in addition to the two you listed. The rest of it has potential but is undercooked IMHO. Not what you'd want from an album that should've been 7 years in the making. Better lyrics and a zoomed out/less pixelated album cover would've helped the way it was received.

| I think Jugulator suffers because it doesn't sound like classic Priest, still a good album imo. And I expected to be dissapointed in it but I love Brave New World | |

| I honestly can`t think of one Hair Metal album that has stood the test of time. Used to be a huge faan of Quiet Riot, Ratt, King Kobra ++, Now it all sounds dated to me.
Same with the entire King Diamond catalogue. I cant listen to more than one ore two songs before getting tired of his helium voice these days, used to be a huge fan..
