| To be honest Annette's voice suited their music the best, but yes, she was a bit "weak" in her vocals though her voice and style suiting the band. | |

Their music at the time. She didn't handle a lot of the Tarja-era material very well. She simply wasn't able to take it to where it needed to be, vocal-wise. My opinion, of course.

My opinion, of course. Agree. She sounded fine on the songs written for her voice. She didn't handle the Tarja songs very well (from the youtube clips I have seen.) Floor nails the Tarja-era songs. From the live performances, Annette just never seemed to be a fit in the band. And it's pretty obvious from her being fired mid-tour she wasn't a fit with the band. I think I have mentioned this before, but I didn't really get into Nightwish until Floor join. For me, she has the right voice for the band. Tarja has a fantastic, unique voice. It will be interesting to see if Nightwish gets bigger with Floor - they seem to be building their US fan base and playing bigger venues this time around.

| Anyone pick this up today?
I got it and my early take is a fantastic album. Floor sounds fantastic and the songs are really good. Will have to see where it ranks by the end of the year...... but this will on play for a while.

| I love Floor. I love Nightwish. I'm super pumped! But I didn't play it tonight either. I'm really slow at listening to new albums. I want to give them a proper spin, and that means the right day, the right time, the right mood, the right moment, the right drink, the right company (ie. alone), the right everything. I've built up a long queue of albums I own but haven't played even once yet. If I'm not sure it's the right moment, I'll play something else. That's why it's so puzzling why I bother pre-ordering every new interesting album that's out there! Case in point, Blind Guardian is a top 5 band for me. And it's been two months since their last album and I haven't played it through yet. I just don't want to waste that precious first listen moment. It has to be perfect. Possibly one song at a time. I've done a few songs now. But a new album by a band I love love love is truly one of the greatest pleasures I have in life. Probably either means I really love my music or that my life is really boring. And next month it's the NHL playoffs. My wife thinks that's the only time of year when I get out of my rubble of CDs and show my face in the living room. If the Blackhawks have a long post-season again, how am I going to get any music listening done? Dammit! | |

| I got it today and listened to most of it except the last song. I thought it was pretty good. Doesn't sound better or beat any of their previous albums. Its kinda just there and fits right in with all the other albums. Would have been nice for them to maybe add a little something different now they have Floor in the band but its pretty much Nightwish with a new singer.
I liked Anette she added something different cause she wasn't like Tarja and it fit the music for those 2 albums. I think she would have fit this album just the same, but whatever it didn't work out and hopefully the next album will be a little better. _________________

| I love Floor's voice and have since After Forever.
I'm convinced I know who is screwing up Nightwish. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I'll be honest, I was tremendously enthused about Nightwish until Imaginaerium and then it just got a little too... Danny Elfman for me (i.e. everything the same as everything else).
Is the band getting screwed up or is it just a formula that always had a limited amount of gas in the tank?

| Personally I think the genre has run out of steam. Again tho its not a bad album just too much of the same thing, but really what else could they do to change? Its their sound. _________________ | |

| Picked this up earlier today. Listened once while out and about, playing it again now. Quite good. To me, while it's definitely got that big theatrical sound that Tuomas loves (and can afford now), to my ears it doesn't quite fall in line with recent albums. Maybe Anette would have sounded fine here, but overall I think it sounds more like the latter stuff they did with Tarja. Still Nightwish, though. And Toho still won't like it. | |

| Picked up this album Friday and I'm currently listening to it. The best album since Once IMO. Annette was good but lacked a certain power and charisma needed for the music as far as I was concerned. It was made up with Marco's parts. Floor is just killing it here. Marcos is good here, but he's not needed to pick up the slack, because there is none. The music is also much better than the last two.
All this is my opinion of course.

| I must admit I like the Celtic/folk-y sounding tracks I've heard but I've seen the track list (and associated times) and as Runicen said, the "Danny-Elman" wannabe Tuomas just puts me off. I might actually give this album a try if I could pick it up for a couple of bucks but other than that I'll pass. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I see the same thing happening for me. Then it could just be that since I haven't bought an album since the last Accept, having new music again is having an effect on me.
