New Nightwish track has leaked. Exactly what you'd expect for a single.
I'm surprised that Floor is nearly unrecognizable until the last quarter of the song when she sings with a bit more power. She's singing a lot "sweeter" than I expected. I doubt this is how she'll sing on the entire album, but it's interesting to hear her do something I've never heard her do before. Kind of like a cross between Tarja and Anette, really.
Very good song, though. Definitely a radio single kind of tune. Not too heavy, very catchy. Can't wait to hear more.

And here is the non-LP b-side from the single:
Floor sounds more like herself. Really good tune as well. Are they turning into a folk metal band, though?

I like the Celtic vibe in those tracks. And they're both under 6 minutes long; did Tuomas quit the band? Oh wait, the album is called "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", so Tuomas still has to be doing at least some of the writing.

The last track on the album, I believe, is over 23 minutes long. Apparently quite awesome, too; unlike anything they've done before.
According to "journalists" invited to the pre-release listening party, anyway.

Enjoy the songs but I never make it all the way through a Nightwish album lately. Tired of the bombast I think.

Thanks for posting. Elan sounds good. Looking forward to this album. Sounds like Nightwish to me. I'll make my judgment after I hear the whole album. I was wondering if they were going to use more of Troy on this album since he's a "full member" now - it appears that way.

Ugh! I could really like this band again if Tuomas would just reign in that bombastic songwriting of his. 23 minutes! No thanks, save it for the progheads.
I just checked; the only 20+ minute "song" I enjoy is Rush "2112" which clocks in at just over 20 minutes. 23 minutes of Tuomas and his "Lion King" inclinations would seem like it lasted a lot longer than the 20+ minutes of 2112.
I DO like those two songs though so maybe I'll just download this album a la carte.

I might give it a listen when it's released, not heard anything that jumps out at me though and the thought of a 23 minute song of this kind of stuff makes me smile a bit.

I feel like this song was written for Anette. Kinda decent tune, but closer to being medicore.

It's good. Not the kind of song you crave, but not the kind you skip when it comes on.

New song can be heard here:

Really good. Definitely has a mid-period (Century Child, Once) Nightwish sound to it, but, man, that main riff sure does sound like the same one from "Storytime," only faster.

Killer song - great lead off track. I'm a bit late to the Nightwish bandwagon, but really got into them over the past year since Floor was hired. Floor sounds great and I am really looking forward to this album! I pre-ordered it a while ago.
On a side note, Jukka is missed. Kai is playing his style, but Jukka is missed.

This stuff sounds exactly like the stuff they did on the past 2 albums and like you said Ken, it sounds like Story time. For some reason I'm not really too excited about this album. I don't see whats so great about her vocals. Seems like she's trying to do a mix between Annette and Taja with a little of herself in there. I'm hoping there are better songs. So far its not doing anything for me. Maybe I'm just tired of this band?

I think that explains my opinion too. Not just this band but this whole musical style.

I still like the style of music but I just think they are getting too repetitive with their albums. Its just way too predictable and who wants to keep listening to the same album over and over again. I really liked the last two albums with Annette.

You know who I blame for that so I won't beat a dead horse.
But even with a new songwriter I still don't think I could get into it. I think I just overdosed on the whole "female-fronted symphonic metal" thing. When I first got into that style I bought everything I could get my hands on (which is the only reason I know who Floor Jansen is). As usual I just made myself sick of it.

Floor is definitely not singing to her full potential on these tracks, but maybe that's what they called for. She is amazing, though. Like I probably mentioned before, I think she's much better than both Tarja and Anette.
Anyway, Wayne, have you heard the latest few Xandria albums? They have definitely taken up the space Nightwish left when they went in this more theatrical route.

She definitely sang with power on the After Forever albums too.

Yeah, I am hoping for more of that on this album. That's where she really shines, I think.

Yeah, why bother ditching Anette if you're gonna hire a copycat of hers...

Floor is no copycat. Overall, while I like Anette's voice, it is weak. Rather, she has very little power behind it.
