Just for sh*ts and giggles, I looked in FYE today at the mall. When the employee asked if there was anything he could help me with, I told him the name of the band. The look on his face was priceless. Yea, let's look under "N". Good call. Why didn't I think of that?

I WAS ignoring this thread because I thought that it was either a sympho metal band or one those orchestras that likes to play metal tunes.
Toto sounding, that got my attention.
I always thought that Grand Illusion did this style well(the Toto side of it).

Yea, the band name and album covers are both pretty misleading. I initially thought the same thing. Glad I decided to listen first.

Yeah, had I not read about them elsewhere, I'd have assumed, going by the cover art, that they were were an indie rock band.
You know the old saying...

Sad to say, but I think I've got my first "disappointment" for 2015. Perhaps my expectations were set too high after their first album. This new one isn't doing a thing for me.
The first album was so darn catchy. After one play, the songs stuck in my head long after the album was over and it just got better with repeated spins. Not so with this new album. It's not bad or un-listenable, but it doesn't stick with me at all or get me tapping the steering wheel while it's on. I find my thoughts drifting to other things while I'm playing it. Maybe it'll grow on me in time, but for now it's getting shelved.
Bummer. I really wanted to like this one.

What? This one is WAY catchier! Haha.

"catchy" is wholly subjective to the listener.

I dunno, man. I've tried. I wanted to like it. And I don't hate it. But it's just not grabbing me the way I expected it to.
The very first time I played it through, I didn't like it at all. Not sure why, so I just chalked it up to me not being in the right mood or something. When I played it again later in the week, I thought it was better, but still nothing great. Finally I played it in my car while sitting in traffic on the ride home from work. No distractions, just listening to music while I silently cursed other drivers and their mothers. Instead of drumming along, digging the rhythms, humming the tunes, I just spaced out and thought of what the wife was making for dinner or if I put enough lime on the bodies that gas bill in the mail. Before I knew it, I was popping out the cd and playing Overkill's Coverkill album instead.
I'm not giving up on it entirely, but it's shelved for now. I'll revisit it later in the year when I start assembling my Top 10 for 2015

I think "Living for the Nighttime," "Stiletto," and "Spanish Ghosts" are the catchiest on the album; the first two probably catchier than anything on the debut.

Nope.
I just looked at page one of this topic and just seeing the embedded video image of 'Siberian Queen' and now I've got the chorus in my head. I didn't even have to play the video.

I'll need to revisit their last one and see if my opinion has changed at all since then.

I revisited their 2nd album recently and it still didn't do much for me. I never bothered with their 3rd and sadly, probably will skip this new one too.
I do however still like their debut. Go figure.

That's odd, man. Haha. Skyline Whispers has some of their best songs. "Stilleto," "Living for the Nighttime," "Spanish Ghosts," so many kick-ass tunes.

The song is awesome!
Apparently it was written before the last album, but they didn't think it fit.
Some more samples...
Killer stuff!
