| Am I the only one that thinks the Voivod album should not be there? It's a great album, but Top 25 thrash of all-time? | |

| Even though I despise that band Pantera, they do have thrash elements and took upon some thrash ideas, but they were a metal band. Nothing more, nothing less (unless you classify groove metal as some do). I will give them credit where its due, but I still think they sucked ass!
To do a Top 25 Thrash Albums of All Time list is DAMN hard to do. I think there would be 5 or 6 on that dude's list I would keep in there, but the rest (not saying good or bad at all) would not be in there. Some of them are damn good albums though too.
Anyways, the guy who made that list has his own opinions, though I think he should study and discover more as well as get some facts straight. haha

Yep. That sums it up for me!

| Did any of you guys click on that same website's list of Top 25 Traditional Heavy Metal Albums? I would like to see the...disagreement that might arise out of that list. I guess they are kind of using a different definition of the term "traditional metal" as I also see the phrase "Root Metal" in their opening, but it includes Appetite for Destruction, Skid Row's Slave to the Grind and the Black Album.

http://metaldescent.com/the-25-best-traditional-heavy-metal-albums/ At least I own everything on that list. "Root Metal" - Any list of best metal albums that doesn't have Stained Class on it is null and void. Boo!

Yeah, that's nothing but silliness. "Target Earth" lost me after the first 4 tracks.

http://metaldescent.com/the-25-best-traditional-heavy-metal-albums/ Well, for one ... "Slave to the Grind" and "Sound of White Noise" are incredibly overrated. How many good songs on each of those? Maybe 2 or 3?

Maybe 2 or 3? I've always loved SttG...though Sound of White Noise I can do without. I've tried over the past 10 years or so to revisit it, but I still can't get into it. Though I recognize that it's become something of a cult classic, like Crue '94.

Though I recognize that it's become something of a cult classic, like Crue '94. People just like the idea of a "tougher", "cooler", "more aggressive" vocalist in place of Belladonna. But the songs for the most part simply aren't there. Like I said, maybe 2-3 good songs on that album. By no means a classic.

What, with no UFO on it? Not likely! Crappy list, no Motorhead just plain silly.

| I'm one of the biggest fan-boys of GnR on this forum, but even I'd be hard-pressed to put Appetite in my list of TOP 25 TRADITIONAL HEAVY METAL albums. Same goes for the Skid Row and Anthrax albums. Love 'em both, but top 25 metal albums? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

For me, Slave to the Grind is a flat-out classic, from start to finish. I don't think Sound of White Noise is quite as good, but it's got way more than two or three good songs.

| Sound of White Noise and Slave To The Grind are two of my favorite albums. "Only" is in my top five songs of all time. That being said, I don't know if they belong on a list of Trad Metal. | |

| "Only" is a great song, especially for the early 90s pop/metal/grunge thing that was popular at that time. | |

In the sense of the "hard music" style that might've gotten airplay at the time. Certainly more so than, say, VOIVOD or CYNIC or something.

I agree with this. I remember so clearly just salivating at the idea of a new Skids album at the time. Then when the video for "Monkey Business" dropped, I was so stoked on it. Bought the cassette with birthday money that summer and played it just as much as the s/t record. I still listen to both fairly regularly, but SttG definitely gets the most play.
