| Good question! Besides the obvious hair ballads of the 80's that we all know and love:
Paradise - Impellitteri (Rob Rock) Nearly perfect!
Last Drop Falls - Sonata Arctica (I seem to like their slow stuff more than anyone)
The Elder - Blind Guardian
Long Gone By - Falconer
Tears In The Rain - Messiah's Kiss
Rocket Ride - Pink Cream 69
Spread Your Wings - Silent Force
Silent Rain - Ten | |

Then I may suggest Sleeping Sun, Walking In The Air, Forever Yours, Dead Boy's Poem, and Sleeping Sun by Nightwish (unless of course you've already heard them). The last two are two of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

| I don't consider Wasted Years a ballad. It's just a melodic metal anthem. To me a ballad is Summers Rain by Savatage. | |

Scorpions - Lady Starlight, Yellow Raven, Wind of Change Bloodgood - She's Gone Tourniquet - Twilight & My Promise Rosanna's Raiders - Like A River Hanoi Rocks - Don't You Ever Leave Me Guns N' Roses - Patience, Estranged, Don't Cry (version 2 on UYI 2; lyrics are better) Alice Cooper - Only Women Bleed Ozzy & Lita - Close My Eyes Forever Warrant - Heaven Ozzy Osbourne - Goodbye To Romance the awesome ballad that is the second to last track on Testament's "Practice What You Preach" - I forgot the name of it. Could go look on the CD in the other room but I'm too busy...sure someone here remembers the name of it... |

| Every ballad by Savatage is fantastic. Especially Alone You Breathe. I also like Iced Earth's ballads, as cheesy as they are. Watching Over Me is a great song. _________________ | |

The only reason I called Wasted Years a ballad was because it was slower and a little more somber than the rest of Somewhere In Time. To me a ballad is a slower deviation of the rest of the album that stirs up emotions in listeners that the faster and heavier numbers don't. By the way, Summers Rain is another of my favorties (I just didn't put it on my list because I didn't want to take up too much room).
