| I've always been a sucker for pretty melodies or sentimental songs. I know it's often looked down on in metal in order to convey a very macho image but I still enjoy them and appreciate the deviation if the song catches me.
Some personal favorites that come to mind are Givin' Yourself Away by Ratt, Million Miles Away by Hanoi Rocks, and any by X Japan (those are in a league of their own!)

| Back in their hair-metal heyday, there was quite a few that stuck a chord with me. Some have aged well, others have not.
I'd say I'm a fan, although in all honesty, I don't know that I've heard any "newer" power ballads that have moved me in any way. They were a product of their time. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I like ballads, as long as they're not syrupy bullcrap. I like stuff like Queensryche's The Killing Words, Fates Warning's Chasing Time, etc.
WASP's ballads are really good as well, especially Hold on to My Heart.

Probably the most memorable guitar solo that I have ever heard maybe ? Criss' guitar solo on 'Edge Of Thorns" can claim that as well (IMHO) _________________

| When I think about memorable guitar solos the first song that always pops in my head is "Comfortably Numb".

depends on perspective a bent note slow and subtle can say way more than a shred-fest I am more of a tone person than anything else. There is room for it all if it fits the song and is musical. _________________
