"The Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats.
Why? Because whenever I hear it, it gets stuck in my head FOR FRIGGIN DAYS AFTERWARD till I wish I could scrub it out of my brain with a Brillo pad.
Also, it's one of the best examples of totally random '80s MTV video-ism. People in medieval dress dancing around a maypole? Midgets? Vacant-eyed blonde with no dance skills in a video for a song called "Safety Dance??" Sure, why not?

Since we are talking Pop songs, one of the best of the time that seemed to please rock fans, pop fans and fans of urban music. Such a weird fella but definitely had the talent and perfectly mixed rock and pop.

If we go by the numbers, this would be the winner:
That song spent 16 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 which is the longest run for any song, ever.

In my opinion it's Soft Cell's cover of Tainted Love:
Manson did a cool cover too:
My favorite version is by Shades Apart:
Here's the original version by Gloria Jones:

I'd probably go with Freddy's "Safety Dance" nomination but for the sake of discussion I'd also nominate this notorious earworm. I think this one sticks in my brain more than most people's because I'm such an avid fan of anything Celtic-sounding.
