| I have had a bunch. Won't go into details. But I think the most pain I have ever suffered through was a burst appendix about 13 months ago. You are all [?] guys so ya know how difficult it is to go to the doctor when ya just think ya had a bad burrito or something, right? Well, two days of the harshest stomach cramps can mess a brother up. The surgeon told me I would have been toast had I waited another hour or two.
How about yous? | |

| Fell 15 feet to concrete a few years ago, fracturing my pelvis in two places and cracking two lumbar vertebrae. It was rather unpleasant. | |

| Fell about 20 ft onto a stack of pallets (luckily they broke my fall or it would have been about another 10 ft added on to a concrete floor) head first back in the early 90s. Broke my left wrist, busted up a bunch of teeth, hurt my jaw to where I couldn't chew solid foods for over a week, and had bruised my leg from my hip to my knee, making it difficult to walk for a few days. I can still see the fall when I close my eyes. | |

| I was hit in the head by the backswing of a golf club when I was about 10 and you would think that hurt pretty bad but it didn't really. I guess I've been pretty fortunate because the worst pain I've ever had to endure was (and IS when it happens again) a pinched sciatic nerve in my back. To me, back pain is the worst; I don't care what you do, you just can't get comfortable. And silly things like pulling up your pants or tying your shoes become major pains, literally. And if you have to sneeze? OMG, forget it.
But that's it. I'll take another golf club to the head in a heartbeat if it gets me out of any more pinched nerves in my lower back. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Let's see:
Probably the worst was a hip injury I got playing football. Muscle/ligaments tore off of my iliac crest and pulled pieces of bone off of my hip. That hurt like hell and I was on crutches for months. The rehab was excruciating and reduced me to tears on a regular basis. Electro-galvanic stimulation is the worst.
Took shrapnel to the hands and face when bullet fragments came off of some HMMV armored plate. That hurt a bit.
Took a snow shovel to the face when I walked behind my brother when shoveling. That hurt.

| I've heard that before about rehab.
My Mom had a knee replacement and she said the rehab consistently reduced her to tears; so much so that when the doctor told her she needed the other knee done, she told him to get stuffed. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I've really tried to avoid extreme pain due to the fact that it hurts. Like most people, I've done some dumb stuff, like breaking two fingers punching a concrete lamp post, that wasn't jolly. Other than that, having a filling drop out, ignoring it until I hit raw exposed tooth nerve, not good! | |

| Playing in a soccer game my senior year of high school (I was the keeper), anyway I took a full kick to the perenium or better known as the taint. The worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. Hurt so bad that I black out of a few seconds.

| Passing a kidney stone had to be the most pain that I have ever felt. The Kaiser that I was at miscommunicated with themselves and didn't give me any pain killers for about an hour or so............. | |

| When my gallbladder had gange green set in, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like i was kicked very hard like the wind was knocked out of me. THis was a sat morning it only got worse, by monday morning i was laying in the fetal position wishing I could just vomit and feel better, well I did vomit dried blood and gunk but it didnt make me feel better. I couldnt lay on a bed and the couch was barely tolerable. I was in my own hell when my wife came home (girlfriend at the time) she took me to a walk in, I just knew that i wasnt coming home for awhile and sure enough I had my gallbladder removed the next day (not the multiple mini incisions but one long one which takes longer to heal) my gallbladder was in that bad of shape that they had to do it the old way so I spent a week in the hospital and about 2 months recovering from it. I just moved into my apt so it wasnt able to make me comfortable so I stayed with my folks the first week of my recovery. Once I got home I spent alot of time watching tv on the futon in the computer room. Took alot out of me not to mention the staples going across my stomach were a bit disconcerting too | |

My mom, God bless her, did both her knees at the same time. She says she's really glad she had it done that way.

| I had the anesthetic wear off during a root canal once, the pain was so severe I went into shock. |

With tooth nerve pain being the worst pain I have ever felt, I can imagine that this was absolutely horrific. I honestly couldn't imagine anything worse.

How could you let it get to that point? I've had 3 root canals and the second I started feeling anything at all I raised my hand for more anesthetic. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

The tooth had an extra root that couldn't be seen on the X-ray, the other 2 roots were numb, for whatever reason that hidden root wasn't numb at all. |

| Wow, that sounds horrible!
The general uncomfortableness of root canals sucks in the first place; it's like having one of the Saw beartraps in your mouth. I can't imagine the pain of doing that on a root that wasn't numb. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I've had two kidney stones... the second one hurt the most. But when I had my first one, the pain in my side/back was so bad I could barely walk to get to my car to go to the ER and it was scary because I had no clue what it was. The second most pain I've been in was whiplash, but not from how I initially got it (bumper cars). About a year after having whiplash, I dropped my motocross helmet out of my closet and it hit me in the head. When I laid down after I did that, I couldn't get up at all so I took the Vicodin I was prescribed from my kidney stone (that I'd never taken before) just to be able to get up off the couch. Vicodin and my 90 lb body don't mix well, and I'll never take pain killers again. My worst hangovers have never felt that bad... Go ahead and laugh at my whiplash story, my chiropractor did, too. | |

| I was in the California Youth Authority as a young teen and have been stabbed three times by makeshift penetrating creations of evil, clever, and dubious design. One in the side, and twice in the left forearm. Both deflections of attempts at vital regions. The first my chest and the second by neck. I also have endured the " getting to the ER with stomach pain" and having the appendix burst just as my abdomen was getting opened up in surgery. The stupidest "ouch" was already having a broken collar bone from racing 250 MX and stepping over a cable about knee high and tripping. Breaking the same collar bone inch's from the last break. It hurt but nothing like getting "shanked" _________________ | |

Aaaaaand I'm curious about this one as well. I used to work in bail enforcement & recovery. I was shot when we took down the door of a guy we were trying to bring in. My vest slowed it down enough to protect my spine. Total recovery time was almost 2 years though. I got out of that line of work in early 2013. _________________

I got out of that line of work in early 2013. Thanks for sharing. God. Was this a clencher for getting out of that particular career? What caliber bullet? And on a lighter note, is the line in Reservoir Dogs, about getting shot in the stomach being the most painful, accurate?
