HAHA) Tank -- Filth Hound of hades Tank -- Power of the hunter 3 Inches of blood -- Long live heavy metal
I also got some Motorhead and Thin Lizzy albums but I don't know if you guys count that as "Heavy Metal". I sort of do well not all Thin Lizzy songs but a lot of songs were totally the blueprint and they have a lot of great albums.

| Newer bands
Christian Mistress Black Trip Age of Taurus Orcus Chylde Witch Mountain
I've tried to avoid the retro/sludge doom bands and just picked the ones that fly their metal flag high (well maybe not Orcus Chylde but there is plenty of trad metal in there)
Older bands? There are loads but I'll kick things off with Angel Witch & Raven

| This thread is just going to be a mess unless you get more specific.
I see some power metal / traditional heavy metal there, so I'll just run with that, and also try and limit myself to just absolute essentials.
Dio - Holy Diver Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider Angel Dust - Enlighten the Darkness Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth Mystic Prophecy - Savage Souls Rage - Black in Mind Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King Star One - Victims of the Modern Age
and get Battle Beast s/t
that's ten already?! | |

| This could actually come in handy, because I have two iPods now and I think I'm gonna start a heavy metal/metal in general collection. Should be interesting.

| Nobody does it better than Accpet, so you might want to consider getting more of them (Metal Heart, Breaker, Russian Roulette, Objection Overruled) and U.D.O. (Animal House, Mean Machine, Faceless World, Holy) Here's what you also need from my perspective, with links: Running Wild - Port Royal Any RW from 1986 to 1995 tbh, that one I just love the most. Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys I. Well, you need both albums and Walls of Jericho too, but this one is absolutely essential. And don't listen do Deris fans, they're wrong Letherwolf - Street Ready Killer enchanting melodic metal. Fifth Angel - Fifth Angel See above. Lizzy Borden - Love You to Pieces Visual Lies is great too, these two might be the best starting point. Queensryche - EP Not their best work, keep that in mind while banging your head to "Queen of the Reich" Sortilege - Larmes de Heros This one puts most better known albums to shame. English version exists. Tokyo Blade - Night of the Blade THE N.W.O.B.H.M band. Skull Fist - Head of the Pack And more obvious suggestions, like getting more Dio, WASP's The Headless Children - imo their 2nd best, perfect album all around; Judas Priest' Defenders of the Faith. Strongly reccomend to go into USPM thread and check some bands there. Being more specific, as in what bands you like the most, would easier the task. | |

| Some good ones listed already. For Maiden, you need Dance Of Death and A Matter Of Like & Death. Also recommend Rock In Rio (DVD) and En Vivo (Blu-Ray)
For Queensryche, get EP, Rage For Order, The Warning, Operation:Mindcrime, Empire, Self Titled from 2013 (La Torre)
Missing a ton of Sabbath - anything with Ozzy and Dio is pure gold.
Helloween - Keeper pts 1 & 2

| There is so much good heavy metal that you could add it's even hard to begin. It's actually overwhelming how much great/classic heavy metal there is.
First band that came to mind was Armored Saint.
Some other bands I'd recommend that come to mind, without going too nuts, Heretic Metal Church Vicious Rumors Rage Running Wild Sword (NOT The Sword, just Sword) Saint (especially Too Late for Living and Time's End) Accept - Breaker, Metal Heart, Russian Roulette Lizzy Borden W.A.S.P. White Wizzard Savage Grace Recon - Behind Enemy Lines Raven - Rock Til You Drop, Wiped Out, All For One...well, just more Raven in general. Avoid Pack is Back Twisted Sister - Under the Blade, You Can't Stop Rock and Roll Saxon The Rods TT Quick - first EP & Metal of Honor Sacred Warrior Armageddon - Money Mask _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

But it needs to be just one of those. Lari's got a good point. This kind of list can span for miles. There is a recent US Power Metal thread that I posted a revolving master list in.
