Looks like he's working with Becker again, too: "As Guitar World recently revealed in an exclusive in-studio feature, "Inferno" will include several collaborations with players influenced by FRIEDMAN, including Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Revocation guitar whiz David Davidson and the flamenco/metal acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. In addition, the album includes FRIEDMAN's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in the pioneering duo of guitar mayhem, Cacophony"

This is going to be good. I haven't liked a complete album of his since Loudspeaker. I think I will this one with what I've heard & the way it's been described.

Sounds interesting. I'd check it out.

And on a side note, it's amazing that Becker is still able to go on with what he has to deal with. My friend's dad had ALS and passed on quickly after it's diagnosis.

That sounded pretty cool. I'll have to check it out when it comes out.

To my understanding most of what he's done since Loudspeaker on the Avex label has been J-pop and aimed squarely at a Japanese audience. Now he's working with a new American label and moving away from the novelty stuff.

Yeah, not at all. Some of it does have a kind of J-pop influence, especially the two Tokyo Jukebox albums, but it's all metal.









Future Addict is the one album to be wary of. The vocalist is pretty bad. There is a horrible reinterpreted cover of "Tornado of Souls," which is laughable. Aside from that, though, he's not doing straight J-pop like a lot of people think.

Yep, but he never went away. He was still releasing new music.

Considering he's done things like covers album of J-pop songs, I don't think that it's a criminal offense that anyone may have thought that.

Those Tokyo Jukebox records rule though.

Good to hear he's been doing mostly metal all this time; word on the street in the past years has been mostly unfavorable so I was confused.

I love seeing Marty's shred side. His use of exotic scales is always spot on. This track is probably the heaviest on the album and can't wait to hear more of his mellower side. That's when Marty is at his best!!
