I read that one and it's pretty good. It kind of craps out at the end when they get to Metalcore and they don't have anything on the retro movement that has been going on since the mid-2000s. Oddly, I found the chapter on Nu-Metal interesting because I normally detest that crap.

| My brother recently finished up Joe Perry's 'Rocks: My Life In And Out of Aerosmith'. I told him to bring it to Thanksgiving dinner for me to borrow. Hopefully he remembers to bring it. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Great book but agree with him on the ending, it kind just grinds to a halt. Finished this book last night, and I agree with both of you, the Metalcore segment (last 50 pages or so) was a tough slog cuz I don't know or care anything about the bands mentioned. Otherwise, it was a cool read. Next up: Bang Your Head: The Rise and Fall of Heavy Metal by David Konow _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Crab Monsters, Teenage Cavemen and Candy-Stripe Nurses: Roger Corman, King of the B Movie by Chris Nashawaty
...an amazingly cool book covering Roger Corman's 60 eventful years in Hollywood, chock full of quotes from pretty much everybody who's ever worked for him (James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, Sylvester Stallone, Ron Howard, Dick Miller, Joe Dante, etc., etc.) and lavishly illustrated with tons of vintage photos, movie posters, and artwork. This is a treasure trove of movie-geek trivia!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Just finished:
The Boy Who Loved Batman by Michael Uslan - an autobiography by the producer of 1989's megahit "Batman" film (as well as all Bat-films since then), who started out as just another comic-book obsessed kid growing up in 1960s New Jersey. The story of his strange road to Hollywood and the many years of struggle it took to finally bring his favorite superhero to the big screen was a very entertaining, inspiring read.

I finished this last night. It's alright, but I didn't learn anything new about Aerosmith that I didn't already know. The band book, Steven's book and Joey Kramer's pretty much covered that. Joe's still a cool dude. Steven comes off pretty badly though, especially in the last few years. Up next, I'm The Man by Scott Ian. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I just reserved David Ellefson's "My Life In Deth" (or whatever it's called) via my library's Web site. I've already read Mustaine's book so it should be interesting to get the "other" Dave's take on Mega-History for comparison. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| It's Good to Be the King -- Sometimes, by Jerry Lawler (2002, WWE). Decent book, not sure if others who are not into wrestling would care. some tragedies, heartbreaks, etc. Not much is too funny, but a lot of slightly amusing moments / stories. | |

| Stephen King - Revival
Very good, as usual. King isn't always 100% awesome, but he knows how to tell a story. This is a clear homage to his major influences. I especially noticed heavy Lovecraft elements, along with Bradbury and Mary Shelley...not to mention, in my opinion, earlier King.
