| New Amorphis album coming at the end of the month and I for one am stoked. They haven't disappointed me since Silent Waters (Eclipse was good but the two that followed blew it away). The last one was a bit of a step down, but was in no way a bad album and after two stellar ones they can be forgiven for that.

| this will be mine but I do agree with DB - the last one was kinda off compared to Skyforger. _________________ | |

| I don't think the new one would touch Skyforger either, but I'm looking forward to it never the less. | |

| We already had this album. I wonder if it would kill them to progress a little bit, e.g. 'Tounela'. I mean, some bands are ok to keep repeating stuff, but this particular formula is getting suffocating. | |

| If they crank a Skyforger II I'd be in 7th Heaven. Unfortunately Amorphis are one of those bands "progressing" constantly always fixing things which ain't really broken | |

| I've given up on Tales II long time ago. Although my absolute fave Amorphis' album is Elegy | |

| Just heard Skyforger for the first time. Quite unique and very engaging. I had planned to listen to a couple tracks and I got way deeper than that. Reading up on them, though, it seems one needs a roadmap through their albums since they changed styles so much. Besides Skyforger, what are the top recommendations? | |

For early melodic death (a description, not part for the melo-death genre) stuff: The Karelian Isthmus Tales From The Thousand Lakes Black Winter Day EP The prog stuff: Elegy The modern era: Silent Waters

| I'm the rare duck in that I think Silent Waters was better than Skyforger. Mind you, not by much. They're pretty much equal IMO. | |

Sampo and Silver Bride are two of the best songs they have done. _________________
