| So I just started my workouts again after a long period of dormancy. Was wondering what songs you guys prefer to work out to, or albums. I prefer songs, here's what I have so far:
Priest - The Sentinel
Accept - Midnight Mover (guilty pleasure of mine)
Exodus - Like Father Like Son
Overkill (sometimes I'll do entire albums here) - Nice Day for a Funeral and F*ck You
Megadeth - Devil's Island
Metallica - Creeping Death and Whiplash
Sabbath - Heaven and Hell and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Ozzy - Diary of a Madman and Suicide Solution
Slayer - Criminally Insane
Van Halen - Romeo's Delight and Light Up the Sky and On Fire
Skid Row - Get the F*ck Out and Livin' on a Chain Gang
Pantera - f*cking Hostile
Also some Sodom, Warlock, Motorhead, Celtic Frost, Tesla, and now Forte.

| I currently go jogging while listening to entire discographies (on shuffle) from the likes of Exodus, Testament, Megadeth, Overkill and Nuclear Assault. In another few weeks I might change to bands like Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Death and Obituary. | |

| Ministry's Psalm 69 album has always been one of my favorite workout albums. Back in the pre-mp3 days, I burned myself a Best Of Ministry CD and I used to workout to that all the time. Actually, I've always found industrial metal to be great workout music period. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Usually power metal or thrash. Metal Church gets a lot of workout time. | |

| Gamma ray's "No World Order" has always been a good work out album for me.....upon those rare occasions that I do actually work out. | |

Yes, I'm anticipating a mile-long list, organized by cardio and strength, including quad days, chest days, etc.

Yes, I'm anticipating a mile-long list, organized by cardio and strength, including quad days, chest days, etc. Well, to be honest, I don't listen to my iPod when I lift. Since I generally work with partners and we lift heavy, the only music I listen to is whatever the gym is playing as I don't want the distraction. Haha! Sorry to disappoint. When I do cardio, I do listen to music. I tend to find a lot of thrash metal which is great to do cardio to. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

When I do cardio, I do listen to music. I tend to find a lot of thrash metal which is great to do cardio to. This is true, actually; lifting requires a massive amount of focus that music can't really enhance. With cardio, you have a rhythm to establish, which music helps with enormously, plus keeps it from getting boring (I agree thrash seems to be the best). But still, what a letdown!

| I find that I keep gravitating to these records for one reason or another, it's not obvious stuff:
Believer - Transhuman Pretty Maids - Pandemonium Domine - Stormbringer Ruler: The Legend of the Power Supreme Arch/Matheos - Sympathetic Resonance Darkseed - Ultimate Darkness (forgot this one at first)

| All songs here are great; I think I keep my playlists familiar and avoid more obscure choices because I have a history with the songs and the more accessible they are the easier it is to work out to them. For instance, if I were to listen to Death's Human, well, forget it; I'd stop running the treadmill and stand there counting the time signature changes while detecting which scale is in place, etc. I love prog and technical thrash, but only for relaxing because it's music for the mind. | |

| I always have music playing whether I'm doing cardio, yoga, or weights.
Lately, I've be playing whatever I've been converting to mp3. Today will be Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 to Shoulders, Tris, Biceps and Forearms.
When I wasn't immersed in this mp3 project, there were a few I'd play over and over for certain workouts:
I used to listen to KISS's Sonic Boom and Nuclear Assault's Third World Genocide a lot for cardio. For non-metal, Sugar's File Under: Easy Listening and Besides.
Weights: Almost always metal of some sort. W.A.S.P. Neon God Parts 1 & 2 got quite a few plays.
Yoga: Gary Numan Dance, The Cure Disintegration, Bob Mould's later solo stuff.

| I don't do any specific songs in particular while I exercise on the elliptical. I just put my stereo on shuffle and listen to whatever comes up. | |

| No music when lifting. I could never keep count of my reps and listen at the same time. Plus I'm at the age where injury concerns me so best to just keep the focus on what I'm doing.
Can't do cardio without music. Running I prefer things like Pink Floyd and ELP. Stuff with long winding compositions. I also like soundtrack scores for this. On occasion some power metal gets me through too.
The bike is where I like my crossover/punk stuff. DRI, Cryptic Slaughter, The Accused, Casualties, and The Exploited do nicely. For some reason the punk band Chaos stuff always gives me my best times. Odd since they aren't particularly fast.
The elliptical is either the thrash stuff - any Overkill, Destruction, Sodom and the like. I've broken the machine twice when listening to Nuclear Assault. To mix it up I'll sometimes go with the classic rock, melodic/hair stuff. Mainly when I'm in a more mellow mood.
One thing that drives me crazy is people (and surprisingly it's not just older folks) who don't understand that headphones in means I can't/don't want to hear you. Not to be unfriendly, but to me the place better be on fire or somebody dying to get me to stop.

| I have no idea what good "workout" music is cuz I'm a lazy @#$%. I definitely need to lose some of the lard off of my ass though, so if I ever start working out, I'll let you know what tunes I pick. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Just remember this thread so you know the best songs to work out with Music is actually the only reason I exercise, to be honest. I hate watching TV while doing cardio because I can't focus on the dialogue. I certainly can't read during cardio as well; I end up just reading the same paragraph the entire 30-45m. Music, though...it's the one time I get to listen to what I love in high quality (my truck stereo is mediocre and I have a large muffler and a blown speaker) and I really get into the aggressive stuff. Of course, the health factor is a plus, especially since I'm on the larger side.

Right now I'm working on kicking my addiction to smokeless tobacco (eight weeks and counting! Woohoo!)... once I'm sure I'm over that hump, then I'll move on to worrying about my other, errrr, "issues." _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I had to kick six years worth of smoking in 2011, it's not a fun thing I know. You get to the point though of hating it but missing it, if that makes any sense. Props though, that stuff is mad addictive and can grate your jaw straight off.

Such as your sexual attraction to jellies and jams? Why is it always our fault? Nobody ever cracks down on the jellies and jams for trying to seduce me.
