Andrew Stockdale, founder, main songwriter, guitarist and vocalist of Wolfmother has put the band on indefinite hiatus and will release new music under his own name.
He comments: “I started off solo, and when I got my two friends to be the band we came up with the name Wolfmother. When it disbanded there was a lot of pressure on me to continue as Wolfmother –people thought it was a good name and a good brand. I did that; but in all honesty, it kind of puts you on the wrong track when you need to write a song, because you’re always referencing it back to the previous songs. Now, I would rather call it for what it is. It’s a solo project. My name is Andrew Stockdale – that’s what’s on on my birth certificate.”
Andrew Stockdale's Keep Moving comes out at the end of March.
Shame. I liked Wolfmother. I hope his solo material follows in the same path.

Yeah I hope it does too. Love that fuzzy style 60's rock. Good stuff.

I believe he was the main, if not the only songwriter, so I am sure it will be.

I imagine it would be too. I just hope he doesn't go too far in some other bizarre direction in a effort to distance himself from Wolfmother. Like exotica/spage age pop or something.

Due March 25th. Album cover...
First single...'Long Way To Go'
Sounds like Wolfmother. And that's good enough for me.

Surprisingly, I found it at Best Buy when I picked up the new Sabbath album last week.
I gave a quick listen to most of it and I think fans of Wolfmother will be happy with this album. It's not too far off from what he did there. I'll give it some more attention today for sure.

Anyone else check this album out besides me and Brown-Eye? It's really good.
I understand why he put this out as a solo album under his own name, but I think it's a shame that he couldn't stick with the Wolfmother moniker. I think this album is gonna be overlooked by the masses because of the lack of promotion and recognition factor. Just having the Wolfmother name attached to it might've helped it gain a little more noteriety.

It'll definitely be overlooked. Just check out the reviews for it, where everyone seems to just whine that it isn't a Wolfmother album. It sounds like a Wolfmother album, but that's not good enough.
