| I always thought that Power Metal belonged to Germany, but Edguy were one of the bands i never really got into until lately.
I first started with Mandrake, followed by Hellfire Club, Savage Poetry and lately, Rocket Ride.
These guys play one of the finest metal i have heard in a long time.
Any other albums you'd recommend me?

| I only have Hellfire Club and I like it fine, but I have never come across any of their other stuff in my travels. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I think Mandrake is their best one. You have all the other ones I would recommend. I would suggest staying far away from Tinnitus Sanctus. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Love "Rocket Ride" except for the track Trinidad. Don't care for pure power metal era before. | |

| I like everything except Tinnitus Sanctus. I never understood why so many people like Mandrake so much. I find it a little boring, but I should give it a listen eventually. Its been a while since I've listened to Edguy. Vain Glory Opera and Hellfire Club are their best albums. _________________ | |

i thought they went way down hill on Hellfire Club. They went heavy and lost the melodic nature of the music. _________________

| Helffire is my favorite by them, I think Rocket Ride is when they started their slide. They came back some with Age of the Joker though it's not really power metal. | |

same here. I didnt like much on Hellfire and Joker was a minor improvement but TS really sealed the deal for me. tobias would be better off with Avantasia. _________________

| I'm a huge Edguy fan. I haven't heard the first album (because it's hard to find) and I don't like Tinnitus Sanctus, but everything else is really good. Hellfire Club and Theater of Salvation are my favourites, but Vain Glory Opera and Mandrake are almost as good as those two.
I've seen the band twice, and while I think Tobi talks too much, they still put on a great show. I would really like to see them play a long set with plenty of old stuff though.
I think Avantasia is quite a bit better these days, but strangely, I like Avantasia's heavy metal/hard rock better than their power metal, and I like Edguy's power metal better than their heavy metal/hard rock.

| Tinnitus and the Joker are throwaway clunkers, Rocket Ride is forgettable, the best two are definitely Mandrake and Hellfire Club. | |

I'm surprised Rocket Ride isn't your favorite, as it's mostly a great 80s rock/metal album. For me, it's a toss-up between Hellfire Club and Rocket Ride. I dig the early albums but they're just standard power metal. I like them most from Hellfire Club on. Even Tinnitus Sanctus. Not a bad album. Not great, either, but better than most give it credit for, I think.

Yeah, "Trinidad" is a TERRIBLE song. One of the most annoying songs I've ever heard, I think. Haha.

| I'm a big fan of Vain Glory Opera but the rest of the catalogue I just find to be decent good stuff that I need to be in the mood for. Outside of VGO they aren't a pop-in-and-play band. | |

Yeah, "Trinidad" is a TERRIBLE song. One of the most annoying songs I've ever heard, I think. Haha. Ill have to give Rocket Ride another try. I remember getting it and listening to it a few times and feeling like they should have stuck with the power metal stuff. _________________

It was quite a departure for the band, so that might have soured people's perception, you know. Had it been some other band, released on Frontiers Records, it probably would have been much better received.

It really was a big departure, especially after how great the last couple albums were. _________________
