Unique, yes. One of the best, no. The playing and ideas and melodies are there...but the songs are just too needlessly long and repetitive.

I am more interested in the new Queensryche album - for it to be considered good, it has to be better than anything they have released since DeGarmo left the band. Hopefully they release a single or another new album preview soon. One of the members posted on FB that they plan to finish up the album by the end of the month.

I'm not interested in what ever Tate comes out with, but I will listen to it when it streams. He's using the exact same writing/production/studio musician team that was used on the last three Queensryche albums. The only difference is that he's paying "names" to play some of the solos. With The Geoff's douchiness I wouldn't be surprised at all if he saw the pics of Queensryche in the studio, got pissed and decided that since he can use the Queensryche name until the court case he was going for one last cash grab. The "names" are his hope that the public will buy his album and not Queensryche's.

It's almost like competing Bond flicks (Never Say Never Again vs Octopussy) and the rush to the theaters. If Tate's lawyer's are any good they probably have told him that he doesn't stand a chance to win the name. I was watching the Styx behind the music recently and it seems to be a similar situation - Dennis De Young sued for the Styx name and lost, JY and Tommy Shaw won.

Just because musicians are skilled doesn't mean the output will be enjoyable.

Just because there's a new singer/band member doesn't mean the output WON'T be enjoyable.

It could go either way. I think if they put out a dark, heavy record and LaTorre drops a few high notes in the mix, the Metal fans will dig it.

People are going to react, period. Like I said, I'm sure it'll at least be half-decent...probably pretty good...but I doubt I enjoy it as much as my favorite Ryche.

This reminds me of that awful phrase people say, "..it's not the BEST I've ever [insert experience]..." well, yeah, because EVERYTHING besides the best (which can basically be one thing) isn't the best, obviously.

I've seen a lot of kudos for LaTorre and that version of the 'ryche so I think they'll get a chance. I gave the newest Tate a chance but it's just boring.

I think it will be just fine with LaTorre on vocals! They guys have been pushing towards getting back to the hard rocking metal days so I know this will turn out well.

Sure, but people who enjoy something don't put nearly as much effort into telling people as those who do not enjoy something. That's what I was getting at. The Internet will be clogged with hateful crap because people already have their minds made up.

If anyone is saying hateful crap about someone it is 100% directed at Geoff Tate. Funny how quickly metalheads go from revering people as God-like to characterizing them as worthless. I wonder how much Dio would be revered if they really knew the ins-and-outs of his personal life and business dealings.
