Well, this isn't exactly a surprise... (from Bravewords)

QUEENSRŸCHE Vocalist Todd La Torre Resigns From CRIMSON GLORY

The news will come as a shock to some while others will shrug it off saying "It's about time..," but BW&BK has been informed directly that after approximately three years as the frontman for Florida-based progressive metal band CRIMSON GLORY, vocalist Todd La Torre has officially resigned.

La Torre was introduced to Crimson Glory by Matt La Porte (JON OLIVA'S PAIN / CIRCLE II CIRCLE), becoming an official member in 2010. He helped to ignite and give new life to the legendary band that had been on hiatus for nearly ten years, and mourning the loss of original vocalist Midnight. Crimson Glory emerged back into the world arena metal scene with very high praise and acceptance. La Torre toured as the new voice of Crimson Glory throughout Europe in celebration of the band’s 25th Anniversary with great success. Talk of a new album was highly anticipated and the band appeared to be firing on all cylinders.

"We were writing the new album and things were looking good, says La Torre. "We had interest from two major European labels, which was very promising. I was very honored and proud that we were on the rise, and the fans were embracing all that we were doing. We had wonderful momentum and we were working within an important window of time within which the new record should have been recorded and released to have the most impact given the bands resurgence. Unfortunately, the record never materialized despite my best efforts."

"My involvement with Queensrÿche had nothing to do with the album progress," he continues. "I haven’t been contacted to write with Crimson Glory for over six months. As a band, our writing sessions were slow, eventually becoming non-existent before I ever joined Queensrÿche. During the specific timeframe that I was in talks with Queensrÿche, members of CG were simultaneously occupied by other external and internal endeavors that apparently absorbed the time and/or will away from CG, which is not fallacious per se, but it proceeded in passivity. The main reason for my resignation from Crimson Glory is primarily due to its inertia status.”

"Crimson Glory was the catalyst that exposed me to the world as an undiscovered vocalist, and I am very thankful to them. Special thanks also to the amazing fans for their acceptance and support of not only Crimson Glory, but their continued support to me as an artist. Lastly, I sincerely wish my friends in Crimson Glory the absolute very best, both personally and professionally."

Well , as already stated , not surprising at all. I wonder if Crimson Glory will ever be able to get their act together and release anything new. Too bad

In other words: "While Queensryche is an actual real live working band that plays shows 'n' makes records 'n' stuff, Crimson Glory moves about as swiftly as a glacier."

If the members of CG all took a dump in an empty 5 gallon bucket they still wouldn't be able to get their sign together.

The guys in Crimson Glory don't take a dump unless Jon Drenning gets a message from the extraterrestrials telling them it's OK to do so.

good point

Going to Europe to make a few bucks is a win/win situation for a band, while recording and releasing an album nowadays is a risky investment.

Since I had no idea that these guys were still around, I'll not lose sleep. I saw them once in 1987 supporting Anthrax and Metal Church (who owned that night, utterly blowing Anthrax off stage) and to that crowd at that time, shiny masks were not what was going on and it wasn't pretty. I felt quite sorry for them as the music wasn't bad.

Not as sorry as I felt for Malice supporting Slayer around the same time which was just ugly! Laughing very hard

Drenning writes great albums and isn't generally known for cranking out junk.

I think he should write all the lyrics and vocal melodies and hire someone like he did for "Astronomica". That new CG song with Todd "I can play every instrument" LaTorre was horrible. He's a great cover band singer and ruled when I saw them live but after hearing this tune I don't want any more of it.

The new Queensryche will be mediocre with him writing on it. The samples from his solo album sound terrible.

At least Tate at one time could write good vocal melodies. LaTorre has not demonstrated this and I doubt he has what it takes. It's a skill that takes time to develop just like singing and isn't a given.

I actually think a lot of those samples of solo tracks are really good. All of them are waaaaaaaaaaaay better than nearly everything Queensryche has done with Tate at the helm.

Because LaTorre has spent his life copying something Tate somewhat pioneered. When Queensryche was QUEENSRYCHE (pre-HITNF) they were unique and untouchable. When people played a similar style, people said "they're copying Queensryche". LaTorre is a second (third?) generation Queensryche (Tate) influenced musician.

You're right...at one time, Tate's melodies and voice were amazing...absolutely amazing. He's still not a bad singer by any stretch...its the songs.

With LaTorre fronting the band, I have no doubt they'll turn out a half-decent power/prog metal album...just like how without Steve Perry, Journey still turns out half-decent melodic rock albums...but the magic that made them what they once were will not be there.

I have a feeling it's gonna be a Judas Priest JUGULATOR situation. It'll get some notoriety just because of the "new guy" curiosity factor, some fans will dig it, and the rest won't care.
