Off to Amazon...
Are you buying the digital versions? They're like a buck less than the CD versions.
For this one i am. I didn't for the first two but after the 2.99 shipping, IMO it's just not worth buying the CD given the packaging.
Time to get Amazon Prime, brother! =)
prime rules!!

Went to a record show in Orlando last weekend and picked up the following vinyl records (I tried to buy stuff I don't already have in my cd collection. Plus, I've really become particular about condition, so I passed on some great titles that didn't quite meet my meticulous (anal) standards):
Alice Cooper - From The Inside (I have this on cd, but I wanted that great die cut album cover, and this was in superb condition)
Bride - Show No Mercy (Still Sealed) BOC - Club Ninja Def Leppard - Hysteria Foreigner - Double Vision (Still Sealed) Foreigner - Head Games (Still Sealed) Genesis - S/t Heaven - Bent Lizzy Borden - Visual Lies More - Warhead Ted Nugent - State Of Shock Styx - Man Of Miracles (Wooden Nickel) A Flock Of Seagulls - S/t (Still Sealed) Adam and The Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier White Lion - Big Game (Still Sealed)

Crashdiet- the savage playground Crashdiet- generation wild Ghost- infestissumam (vinyl ghost b.c. Version)
Now that I got the vinyl I have compared it to the cd. My verdict is.... The cd version, the bass is extremely over powering. I also hear I guess what you can call clipping. I would say close to how death magnetic sounds. The vinyl of the full album is kind of the same way BUT the bass isn't over powering. It still has that overly loud sound. I also have the vinyl single for secular haze. The funny thing is that single sounds better than both the cd and vinyl versions of the full album. Either way I love this album. Now that all these stories of brick walling etc. keep being brought up I do hear from time to time and vinyl is better yada yada, but I think in this case your getting almost the same result with vinyl and cd.

Made my semi-annual trip to CD source. This time I still got a large amount but kept it under $200 for the first time.
$8.99 Diamond Head-Diamond Nights Uncle Slam-Will Work For Food Saga-Generation 13 Eddie Ojeda-Axes 2 Axes
$7.99 Sodom-The Final Sign Of Evil Seasons Of The Wolf-s/t
$6.99 Crashdog-Mud Angels Turisas-The Varagnian Way (Limited Peganfest Tour Edition)
$5.99 Jag Panzer-Dissident Alliance Malevolent Creation-Stillborn* Lizzy Borden-Master Of Disguise Ghoultown-Live From Texas Edge Of Sanity-Infernal
$3.99 Yngwie Malmsteen-Marching Out Anacruisis-Manic Impressions
$2.99 Reverend-World Won't Miss You
*Finally found a copy of this for under $30. I illegally downloaded it a while back because of the high price tag. However, since I found it cheap (due to it being in less than perfect condition-but still playable) I went ahead and picked it up.

Ya, I guess you can't have too much bass on a record or it will actually make the needle jump. In fact, when I bought The Strawbs - Bursting At the Seams on cd, they were able to sequence the "first side" correctly because there was too much bass on the song that they wanted to end that side with.

Sorry I didn't clarify that. That's something they actually deal with at around the cutting/test pressing stage. They test one to make sure it doesn't do that..... At least that is what I have read from people who have actually done that.

The only thing that can cause a needle to jump out of the groove is if you have a loud bass peak panned all the way to the left or the right. That is the genesis of why kick drums are panned center in the mix.
However it's still not very likely with modern cartridges.

I'm jealous he found it so cheap.
Ain't no guilty in the pleasure of Bruce Hornsby. Make sure you get some of his albums. They're usually very cheap and the non-hits IMO are better. Some real hidden gems on those records. The Way It Is would be my favorite. Also try to track down his version of Dylan's Girl From The North Country. That one brings a tear to my eye.
