Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein from the Misfits were the main dudes in Kryst. Since it was intended as a studio-only project, Soto was basically a hired-gun. According to Wiki, he was still under contract w/Yngwie at the time so he was credited under a phony name. Is the version you got a full album or an EP? I'm just curious cuz if memory serves, they recorded a full 13 track album, but only ever officially released a five song EP. The rest of the stuff supposedly remains in the Jerry Only vaults, but it wouldn't surprise me if some bootleggers have gotten hold of it since that time. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| It's the 5 song e.p.
And speaking of connections and what not, Dave "The Snake" Sabo also plays guitar on the song The Trial Of The Soul.

Not sure how that nugget got by me all these years. You'll be amazed by the amount of useless trivia you can pick up here on a daily basis. As for it probably being a Greek bootleg, yea, it's not a big deal to me if I know upfront. While I haven't purchased any in awhile, I've got a couple in my collection here and there for some out-of-print stuff. Some folks get a red-ass about it though. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

There is supposed to be four of them this year, I believe. Not sure they'll manage to get the other two out in time, but I would think they'll get one out.

I love that Donnas album! Still their peak IMO. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

All the songs are good, but you are missing out most of their best material with that tiny collection. You can get the "Flashback" box for cheap ($15.00 used on Amazon), 53 songs instead of 15 and much more definitive. That Essential collection doesn't even have all their hits, let alone the brilliant non-radio album tracks. |

What would you say is their best album? I see their stuff all the time at used CD stores but never picked anything up, though I have thought about it.

This one has 37 songs...it's the 2CD version. _________________ FINAL SIGN

This one has 37 songs...it's the 2CD version. Okay, that's a little better. I'm not really a "collections" guy cause during this era people purposely constructed albums to be listened to from beginning to end...especially when you have someone as meticulous as Jeff Lynne producing it. That's why I recommended Flashback because he sequenced the box set. re: DB's question. For full-length E.L.O. records I'd start with these... 1. Face The Music 2. A New World Record 3. On The Third Day As much as you like symphonic style stuff, it's hard to believe you don't already own some E.L.O. |

That's why I recommended Flashback because he sequenced the box set. If I ever see it locally, I may snatch it up to get the 16 other songs, but for now this 37-song set makes me happy. It's more ELO than I've ever owned. I purposefully avoided the single-disc collections I've seen of them hoping to come across a good double-disc set... _________________ FINAL SIGN

Stuff I like the best from ELO are always the deep album tracks. Jeff Lynne never gets his just due. Not the popular choice but for various reasons Balance Of Power is my favorite. From gohastings Casualties - Underground Army Casualties - On THe Front Line Berlin - Count Three and Pray When In Rome - s/t

As much as you like symphonic style stuff, it's hard to believe you don't already own some E.L.O. ........and DB, after you get used to those get No Answer and ELO 2. Some really great songs on those yet they hadn't really reached the Jeff Lynne ELO sound quite yet.
