"The Dead" (2010)
Interesting variation on the zombie genre follows a stranded U.S. engineer and a local militia deserter as they battle their way across the undead-infested African badlands.
Drags on a bit longer than it needs to but there's some real suspense here, as well as some suitably nasty zombie carnage FX. Worth a look.

I used to watch horror films all the time, now I've gotten just about as picky with them as I have with music. I prefer "understated and creepy" instead of "over-the-top and ridiculously gory" these days. Horror comedies being the exception to that.
I also gravitate toward mostly supernatural type tales, I don't enjoy slasher/torture porn/serial killer films any longer.

And I've gone the opposite direction. I still enjoy traditional "creepy" horror but these days the daredevil in me seeks out the goriest, most violent movies I can find (that are still legal).
Actually, "Helldriver" might be up your horror/comedy aisle. It's definitely campy on purpose and just throws stuff at the screen in a relentless assault of WTF moments. But you need to put the logical side of your brain into neutral to enjoy it so that might rule it out for you.

The Avengers: Just as good as the first time. This will be an automatic buy for me. I wanted to see it in 3D but that would require me staying up later than I feel comfortable with my new job.
Saw a preview for the new G.I. Joe movie and while I was highly dissapointed with the first one, this one looks like it might be quite an improvement.

'In Bruges' was on last night. What a great fookin' movie.

A co-worker was just telling me about that 'Seven Psychopaths'. I didn't know they were the same director. Looks interesting, something I'd definalty watch at some point.
I wonder if that's why 'In Bruges' was on cable again. Help give this new one a push maybe?

I forgot how much "fun" this movie is. I find parts of it frickin' hilarious; like Otis' socio-political rants that make no sense, Grandpa getting mad at Herman Munster, and of course anything Sid Haig does. Think I'll watch Devils Rejects next. Last time I watched it I remember thinking it wasn't as good as the first one.

"The Fog" (1980)
On the eve of its 100th anniversary celebration, a sleepy California coastal town is invaded by the vengeful spirits of a crew killed in a shipwreck years before. I hadn't seen John Carpenter's creepy classic since I was a pup and was pleased to see that still holds up very well to this day.
Even sweeter, the cast list is a virtual who's who of '70s/'80s B-cinema, including Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, and Janet Leigh!

Don't forget the wonderful John Houseman as the creepy old sea captain telling the story at the beginning of the film...totally sets the tone for the movie.
