| Spider-man was a massive hype job and it didn't meet the expectations of many, so what do you think of the new Batman movie, you going to see it? | |

| I'll see it eventually. I've been reading some lukewarm reviews about it but I didn't expect it to be even close to the last one. | |

| Most of the reviews and opinions I read of Spiderman were mostly about it being a pointless re-boot. The Tobey Maguire films are still too fresh in people's mind. And they were pretty well done. There was no need to tell the story again. Unlike like rebooting the rubber-nippled Batman franchise.
As for the Dark Knight, I might have to actually get my ass into a theater seat for this one. I've seen the last 2 in theaters, so I'm psyched to see this one too. I briefly followed the Bane/Batman comics years ago, so I've got some expectations as well. I thought the other 2 were really well done, so I'd expect the same here. I'm also doing my best to avoid the hype and initial reviews. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

I couldn't disagree with you more... I never disliked Tobey Maguire's version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, but after watching Andrew Garfield's performance, I knew that the powers that be got it right with this latest version. AND the Gwen Stacey character crushes the Mary Jane Watson character. Emma Stone is a MUCH better actor then that of Kirsten Dunst, who's downright annoying. The only thing I missed about this version of Spider-Man was J.K Simmons portrayal of J. Jonah Jameson, which was spot on with the comics. I thought the Ben Parker character portrayal was a wash, as Martin Sheen and Cliff Robertson are both great actors. The Mary Parker character will flourish in future installments with Sally Field at the helm, rather than that old bag of bones from the original arc. Thank God those behind this movie got the suit right, as the royal blue represented what was portrayed in the comics, and the web shooting technology.

I will be anxious to see what you have to say about this latest installment, since I know that you're a Spidey fan and was a collector of the comic.

That "old bag of bones" is Rosemary Harris, a very well respected British actress that has been making movies since the mid-50s. Let's try to show her some respect here as well. |

Since you're a mod, there's no winning this argument/war of words/rebuttal. With that being said, I apologize for making fun of the miscast actress in the original arc. Now, are you going to show some respect for all the bands you've made fun of on this forum or do we go directly to you to find out who should and who should not be respected within all that is the entertainment industry?

I wasn't thrilled with the idea of "rebooting" the Spidey films so soon after the end of the Raimi series at first, but what little I've seen in the trailers and such looks pretty damn good to me. My brother has seen the new Spidey and he sez he thought it was better than two out of the three previous films (he still maintains that Raimi's "Spider-Man 2" is the best super hero film ever made, and I'm inclined to agree with him on that). _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Hmmm.... I may have to see it then, it looked like a waste of film to me at first so I avoided it like the plague. Guess I'll Netflix it later this year. Agree with the fact that Spiderman 2 was an AWESOME flick and one of the best super hero films ever made, but The Avengers was better!

| I will see the new Batman this weekend. The new Spiderman was pointless and you should be insulted that a series was rebooted 5 minutes after the last one ended. It rightfully bombed. | |

| I'm looking forward to seeing the new Spiderman this week, it looks more accurate to the comics so I'm expecting it to be good!
If the new Batman is good, I think it might be a first for superhero movies. The third movie never seems to that good: Batman Forever, X3, Spiderman 3, Superman 3, etc.

| I haven't seen The Amazing Spider-Man yet. The general verdict seemed to be that it was too soon for a restart.
Also, the movie theater around here is doing a triple bill of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises tomorrow night (The Dark Knight Rises won't be playing until midnight). I won't be able to attend because of work, but my friend Remy (from Unbidden) is going. He is a Batman freak, and says he expects to cry at the event from excitement.
I joked to him that it would be hilarious if they showed Batman & Robin three times in a row instead as a practical joke.

From a cinematic standpoint, It was a disappointing movie, the script was dry and the plot was weak , none of the characters connected.... the villain wasnt too villain-y enough compared to Willem Dafoe or Alfred Molina', sure it was comic-book accurate but the overall 'feel' of the movie will leave you empty I can almost guarantee that, go see "TED" instead

| I am stoked for Batman, as it will probably be the only movie that I have time to see in the theater.
Spiderman is a "meh" for me. I am pretty lukewarm about it either way.

This dude truly delivers the goods, I can't wait for "Rises" and I already have my ticket The only thing that's kinda annoying is that he has the habit of re-casting his actors on every project that he makes, I reckon that this movie has approx. 5 or 6 actors who appeared in "INCEPTION"

| Working with a "stable" of actors has become commonplace recently. Steven Soderburgh, Joss Whedon, Judd Apatow, Wes Anderson, Joel Coen and many others tend to work frequently with the same actors.
This practice dates back to the golden age of Hollywood with directors like John Ford, Alfred Hitchcock, Preston Sturges and Howard Hawks.

Tim Burton too. When was the last time he made a movie that didn't feature either Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter?
