I remember not caring much for it when I got it as a new release, but it's grown on me. It's not a favorite or anything, but I'd take that over Risk, Diabolus in Musica or either Load album anyday. Both Load albums are good...it's St. Anger that screws up Metallica's canon... _________________ FINAL SIGN

| I've come around a bit on the Load albums too. I don't love em or hate em. They're just there, ya know. If they were any other band releases, I'd probably like them a little more. They just didn't sit right with me in the Metallica band I knew and loved. Too far off course from their humble beginnings.
The less said about St. Poop-stain, the better. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I tried going back and revisiting the Load albums a couple years ago but I liked them even less now than I did when they first came out. Metallica is the most most wooden and groove-less "boogie band" in history. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic.

I've never heard the full albums, and I never intend to.

Ok, if you put it that way.

Ok, if you put it that way. See, it's all about perspective. A dog turd on the sidewalk is bad. But you walk past it and forget about it. However, a dog turd mashed into the treads of your new Sketchers and tracked across your living room carpet is much worse. Now substitute Stomp 442 in the first example and St. Anger in the 2nd and you'll see exactly what I mean. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I still don't get all the 'Risk' hate, it's just like a lot of the other stuff they put out in the 90's, just less heavy guitars (and therefore, less awkward and half-baked). It feels more natural. Yeah, maybe 'Crush 'Em' is garbage, but people will slam that song and go listen to glam metal, which you can't really do. 'Risk' has a lot of great vocals and interesting, moody textures, and the production doesn't sound like a bunch of cardboard boxes being hit together like on 'Youthanasia'.

| I pretty much like all four equally. My favorites from each are...
Metallica - Kill'Em All Megadeth - Rust In Peace Slayer - South Of Heaven Anthrax - State Of Euphoria (I may be the only one but I still really love that album. Always have since it was released.)

| Slayer > Anthrax > Megadeth = Metallica
Although, the only one I actively listen to is Slayer. I enjoy some material from the others, but they're hardly frequent players.
My favorite Megadeth is Rust in Peace, favorite Metallica's Kill 'em All, and favorite Anthrax is Spreading the Disease. Favorite Slayer is a tough one, but it'd probably be a tie between South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss.

| Slayer's Diabolus In Musica is actually one of my favorites, it's a killer record and one of their heaviest. It's also one of the only Slayer albums where you can actually hear Araya's bass in the mix.

| i like every Slayer ever made. i think they all hold up. sure ,a couple of them aren't entirely "thrash", but they are all aggressive & heavy. i like 95% of Anthrax's material, preferring the Bush albums over the earlier material. the only Metallica's i flat out dislike is Load & Reload. i only really like two Megadeth albums all the way through. _________________ | |
