It was announced that the Stones are playing 4 shows this December, 2 in London and 2 in New Jersey. More details are forthcoming.
Hope they add more dates. Like an L.A. one.
Probably. These 4 are just some warm-ups for next year. I read in 2 seperate interviews, one with Keith and one with Charlie, and both hinted that they are going to celebrate 50 years of Rolling Stones by doing a big stadium tour and that it could be a farewell. 2012 is technically 50 years, but Keef said they couldn't get it together for this year, so it would take place in 2013.
Of course we all know how well those "farewell tours" go, so I guess we'll wait and see.
I doubt they will announce a farewell tour, Jagger calls the idea of a farewell tour, 'daft'

Well, in all fairness, it was more Charlie inferring that it would be a farewell tour. He's been over this "dreadful rock n' roll nonsense" since about 1981 anyway.

As he said it has been 5 years of work, 20 years of hanging out

I saw them for the first time on the Steel Wheels tour as well. My buddy won tickets off the radio. We were so high up and far from the stage, everyone looked like ants.
hmmm... i might have to skip my mortgage payment for the show in NJ...
That sounds about right. Ticket prices are rumored to cost 1 arm, 1 leg and a coupla toes...
Quote :
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards says the band have no intention of charging “over the bloody top” for their reunion gig tickets – even though prices range up to £950 per pass.
The band confirmed their long-anticipated 50th anniversary shows in London and New Jersey, revealing a string of access costs starting at £90 plus booking fee, making the cheapest entry £106. The price of a standard seat is £406. Once surcharges are added to the top-flight VIP hospitality package it will cost £1140.
Members of the Stones’ fan club will be offered cheaper tickets, the band have confirmed – but only standing spaces will be sold.
It’s been suggested the Stones will pocket £16m when they play London’s O2 Arena on November 25 and 26, followed by New Jersey’s Prudential Center on December 13 and 15. That could mean each of the four bandmates receiving £1m each per show.
According to that artice, the price of a standard seat in London is £406. That's roughly $656.46 in US dollars. While that might not be exact, I wouldn't be surprised if that figure wasn't too far off.

Bump for some Stones news...They are reportedly releasing a blues covers album in the very near future.
Quote :
The Rolling Stones will release a blues covers album later this year, it’s been reported.
Speaking with French website Le Figaro, producer Don Was says the as-yet-untitled record was recorded in a short space of time.
He adds: “The album consists of covers of blues songs of Chicago. It was recorded live in the studio in just three days, with the musicians in a circle around the microphones.
“There was no retouching on the pieces. The record sounds very crude, very authentic. It captures the essence of what they are.”
Sounds cool. Looking forward to it.

There doesn't appear to be... https://therollingstonesshop.com/?utm_source=ArtistWebsite&utm_medium=Referral&utm_campaign=TheStonesBlueLonesome03&utm_content=TheStonesBlueLonesome
I haven't purchased a new Stones album in years, however I'll be picking this one up. I like the blues and I like cover albums, so win-win as far as I'm concerned. Would've like to see them spend more than 5 minutes for the album artwork, but eh, whatever.

That track sounds great, I'm looking forward to this. I still wish there had been a full album in the style of "Doom and Gloom", that track was killer...but ah well. They have plenty of killer material, so.

Speaking of the Stones, i got a coffee table book on the stones for Christmas called "The Rolling Stones: All the Songs" which goes into detail about every song the Stones ever recorded up to the new songs included on "Grrr". Pretty comprehensive and interesting if you're into that sort of thing.

It’s weird how life is... Mick is the one that supposedly keeps in shape and lives clean etc, and then you have Keith, a guy that snorted every drug under the sun. You would assume Keith would have the health issues before Mick.

I think the band (or their P.R. team) is being a little overly optimistic about their return to the stage by summer. He's a 75 year old man having open heart surgery. Take it easy, fellas. No need to rush it.

I had one of the biggest laughs of my whole life back in 2005, when Ed the Sock had a segment about the history of rap music on MuchMusic. When he got to discussing 2Pac, he said, "In 2001, 2Pac's fifth posthumous album, Until the End of Time, debuted at #1, helping make him the most successful deceased musician since Keith Richards."
