I don't recall a thread for them yet...but I am too lazy to really dig into it...so if there is/was one I apologize.

I like the STONES lot...mainly their early-mid 70's stuff: STICKY FINGERS, SOME GIRLS, EXILE ON MAIN STREET....but really aside from their material from 1990 until now...I like it all....

LET IT BLEED arrived today..and it is one of my favorites...(although I was lalaed on the tray art so if any of you have this cd and can send me a scan of the back tray art...I'd love you more!)

STONES were early sleaze...they were blues and dirty swagger....country hony tonk with faded denim and cigarette burns...heroin and hard luck and dark circles under the eyes....they were daring and dirty and always maintained the image and styles they wanted....

"Far Away Eyes" may be the best country somg ofall time....were it performed by a country artist.

Alright...I've spouted enough....any other fans..discuss fave albums by theis band....

i love the stones but, i haven't gotten into them deeply. I bought compilation album 40 licks and I love it...especially the first cd. STICKY FINGERS looks like the good album to start the collection with.

I mostly like their 70's stuff. To me, that's when they hit their peak. Exile on Main Street is just incredible. I have Hot Rocks , which covers their 60's hits pretty well. After that, my Stones collection is pretty weak. Someday, when I'm filthy rich, I'll fill in the holes of my collection.

There late '60s and most of the '70s stuff is my favorite. I really like the Some Girls album, a little "discoish" but still very good.

I started listening to the Stones in the late 80s because they were the favorite band of my wife and my brothers in law. And the more I listened to the Stones the more I liked them. In 1990 I saw them the first time live and it was amazing. I think after that concert I was a really fan of them.

I saw them again on the forty Licks tour. That was really amazing, because AC/DC supported them. This was a magic concert.

I had also tickets for the bigger Bang tour last year, but unfortunately it was canceled because Keith fell from a palm. Sad I hadn’t the opportunity to see them this year, but I bought the 4 DVD set The Biggest Bang, which I can warmly recommend.

My favorite albums which I own are Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main Street, Some Girls, Goat’s Head Soup, Tattoo You, Steel Wheels and Emotional Rescue. On top of my wish list are Beggar’s Banquet, Let it Bleed and Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!

And yes, Forty Licks is a very good compilation. My favorite musicians of the band are Keith Richards, Brian Jones and Ron Wood. Rolling Stones rules! 🤘

Bump! Amazing what the search function does.

Over time i've slowly become a Stones fanatic. It's now a full blown obsession. I spend hours pouring over the lyrics and listening to the music dissecting everything about them. Reading books about them watching old videos of them.

They were/are the prototype to everything i love about music and rock n' roll. They are able to go in country, funk, psychedalic etc directions while still sounding like the Stones. This talent only the very best bands possess (ie Hanoi Rocks).

The Stones begot all my other favourite bands with their influence the NY Dolls, Flamin' Groovies, Mott The Hoople, Black Crowes, Aerosmith and of course the greatest rock n' roll band ever the Faces.

Favourite albums are so hard to choose, but i usually choose Goats Head Soup.
An amazing album that contains two of my fav songs Angie and Star Star. Particuarly Angie, a stunning ballad that at times is hard to listen to because it's almost to private for you to be listening in on it.

Still the best freakin' concert I've ever seen. 1994, Giants Stadium, Voodoo Lounge tour.

I only knew the Stones from radio but my g/f at the time loved them so we went. I wasn't expecting much. What I got was laser beams, computer graphics on a jumbotron and giant, inflatable monsters that belched smoke. Plus Jagger running around like a madman.

Been a Stones fan ever since. IMO, the Jagger/Richards songwriting duo is the best rock has ever seen. Yes, even better than McCartney/Lennon.

The Stones are hit and miss with me. I like some songs but others just don't appeal to me. I do give them credit for their influence and talent, but I'm just not much of a fan.

I like their material up to Tattoo You. Beyond that...blech. I wish that they would just tour from now on and not bother with new records, like the Beach Boys.

My favorite Stones album is Sticky Fingers. Favorite song would have to be "Start Me Up" or "Gimme Shelter".

Yeah love Keef solo with the X-pensive winos, really keeps it to his roots unlike Jagger solo who tends to chase trends.

But really lets all bow down to Ronnie Wood, his first 2 solo records are great. And even his recent one which was like 4 years ago is great.

Yeah, I hear that every time I make that statement. I seriously don't understand why people revere the McCartney/Lennon team. Heck, I like McCartney and Wings infinitely more than anything the Beatles ever did.

Maybe on some songs you could make a case for that, but I think Paul
and John kind of balanced each other out a lot. Both put out great solo
work, but they also put out some real duds because the other one was
not there to say "Hey that idea doesn't work".

Plus, there is the innovation factor. The Beatles pioneered a lot of
sounds and production techniques (with only two, four and at the end,
eight tracks, I might add), including the use of feedback, sampling,
reversed tracks and strings.

Tons of guitar players can play Eruption now, but Eddie wrote it. Big difference, IMO.

Maybe but I'm just talking about songwriting. I like the Jagger/Richards output light years more than McCartney/Lennon. Like I said, I like McCartney's Wings output more than McCartney/Lennon.

Jet, Junior's Farm, Hi Hi Hi, Venus And Mars, Band On The Run...all blow away the Beatles in my book.

Ah, the age old battle, "who is better The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?" Hard to believe that is still going on. In then end, I believe it is just up to an individuals tastes. Both groups are legends and there are nothing but opinions as to who was better.
