That would be the undisputed KING of unknown bands and probably unknown songs
A clue is the guy had a song mentioned on page 1 of this thread.

Accept NO translation, it lost a lot in English.

My friend's band used to do a wicked rockin' cover of that tune in their live shows. The English version, of course.

"Change" from John Waite.
I had not heard it in years and years until about a week ago...such a good song.

Te answer to my question is Donnie Iris, if anyone cares !
Early 70's was a member of The Jaggers whose hit was "The Rapper" Then was a member of Wild Cherry in the mid 70's who did "Play That Funky Music" and the last one from the early 80's already mentioned in this thread, "Ah Leah" done as a solo artist.

Hmm, I'm calling a technical foul on King as a one hit wonder band. This might be true for the U.S but in their native Blighty they had five hit singles and two top 10 albums.
Now if you are really looking for the U.K king of the one hit wonder you will find him under the name of Norman Cook, in addition to his most successful projects (The Housemartins and Fatboy Slim) he has been a 'one hit wonder' with Beats International, Pizzaman, Freak Power and the best of all, this little gem!
For those who don't like dub influenced dance music, let me assure you, this is awesome!

That would be the undisputed KING of unknown bands and probably unknown songs
via Wikipedia:
Edison Lighthouse: Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes): #5 in March 1970 White Plains: My Baby Loves Lovin: #13 in June 1970 The Pipkins: Gimme Dat Ding: #9 in July 1970 The First Class: Beach Baby: #4 in October 1974
(As you might guess, Burrows was a session singer and fronted a bunch of groups which pretty much only had one song.)

I went and listened to some of those songs and remember them somewhat. I am gonna add this guy to my long list of useless music trivia questions. Somewhat more obscure than even Donnie Iris. Thanks

I never knew Iris was in Wild Cherry. Kind of drops him down in the respect department.

I was mistaken about him playing on that exact Wild Cherry song. So my whole trivia question thang is as Bon says "shot down in flames" he was a member from 1978 to 1979.

Bet it's even better without all the guys with the "boofed" hair running around plastering flyers all over every pole.

I absolutely loved this song, didn't rate the band much in later years, but very sad news.

Not so much a song, but a band that I loved and forgot about is this lot.
I have no idea whether they made any impact at all in the U.S but they were great
And while we're on the subject of bands who look like they might be homeless

Saw that she is touring on the 30th Anniversary of this album. 30 YEARS! Oh, and at the time I had no clue what this song was about until the PMRC types started yapping about it. Still think this is a great video. Early MTV couldn't be beat for a youngster.

Inspired by that Freedom Rock commercial on another thread. One of the first protest songs that I loved and still do, but I hadn't heard it in a while, brilliant lyrics!
