Subject: Total Recall Remake Tue Apr 03, 2012 12:30 pm
When I see Hollywood has decided to remake a movie, I'm usually pretty cynical about what the results will be. However, this one looks awesome! Plus Kate Beckinsale as Lori? Yeah, I'm all in!
Will the 3-boobed hooker make an appearance? Otherwise I'm not interested.

The original "T.R." was one of Arnold's better movies. Sharon Stone was ssssssmokin' back then and Ronny Cox from "RoboCop" was a great bad guy. ("In 30 seconds you'll be DEAD... and I'll be home in time for Corn Flakes!")
That said, this version is supposedly more faithful to the Philip K. Dick story it's based on. The trailer's got a nice "Blade Runner" look to it.

Loved the Arnold version and I agree, one of his best. And Sharon Stone before she became a freaky "movie star" - that's how I like to remember her!
Ronny Cox was awesome as Cohagen and had some great lines! So did Arnold
I'm really looking forward to this, same production crew as the Underworld movies (Kate Beckinsale has been married to the director for many years now).
The original version with Arnold has dated badly over the years.

O cool - I really liked those first two Underworld flicks. The director also did Live Free or Die Hard which was the best Die Hard since the original
I'm usually leery about remakes as well but this one does look pretty decent and from what I've read,a really cool cast. I wouldn't mind checking this out.
This will suck. Has any modern remake topped an original? Ever?
The original Total Recall is mediocre at best, so I don't think it will be too hard in this instance.
Agree on pretty much both accounts. I have yet to see a remake that was better than the original and I thought the original 'Total Recall' was mediocre as well. Can't imagine that this new version will change my opinion in either case.

You should read the original story, it's great, but I've never seen a faithful adaptation of a Phillip K. Dick story yet. Maybe one of these days someone will do one justice.
After Robocop, this is my second favorite Paul Verhoeven film. It certainly hasn't aged well, but I still love it! The remake looks good. I will probably check it out, though I know I'm not going to the theater. It definitely will be a rental.

There are a few good remakes out there. But nothing from the past 20 years, those (like Omen, Dawn of the Dead, Karate Kid and so on) were all horrible
I don't like Total Recall that much either, it's an OK movie and one of the more mediocre movies from Verhoeven. So maybe the Remake will be better, if they go in a different direction, though reading that Len Wiseman is the director, i strongly doubt it. Neither with the crappy Underworld movies, nor with the shitty Die Hard 4 has he proven to be a good director
Speaking of remakes and Colin Farrell, I just went to the library and borrowed his re-tread of 'Fright Night" from last year. Will probably be watching it tonight.

I saw that. It's not bad but the original is a classic.
