| George Romero's zombie flicks are some of my very favorite movies ever. But why is he remaking them? Night of the Living Dead was remade very well in the 80's by Tom Savini. But then Dawn of the Dead was remade in '04, followed by Land of the Dead (disappointing), Diary of the Dead later this month, a remake of Day of the Dead later this year and now a remake of the Crazies is in the works?????? WTF? Can we stop all this horror movie remake crap? I was the one guy who liked Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween. I must admit it was decent. But Prom Night is being remade, Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been re-done, heaven forbid they touch the Friday the 13th films. In fact, let me check IMDB to see if they are. Hold on. Later that day..... Yep. I had a feeling. Here it is.... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758746/ Dang. Does anyone else hate this trend in horror films? |

| Not a big fan. IF they are done right the first time (Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre) then I don't see the point. The REALLY old ones or the FX driven ones? That's different. It was cool seeing The Thing remade even though the original is awesome. Same with War Of The Worlds. Others they need to leave alone.. | |

| I say if you can't substantially improve the original, then leave it alone. Mark my words, before I die, they will announce that they are remaking the original 3 Star Wars movies from scratch. It WILL happen, and it WILL suck. |

I sure hope they leave these alone. How in the World do you improve on these? The 70's FX are just fine. They updated the explosions - that's enough. Leave it alone. Yeah, it's been 1/4 Century. Time for a new E.T. Heck, they're screwing with Star Trek. Nothing's sacred!! Gollum! Gollum!!

| I must agree. For the most part re-makes are bad and it just goes to show how unoriginal/untalented the folks in Hollywood are these days. Remaking not only horror movies, but all genres, including TV, comic books, etc... and let's not forget not only remaking our classic movies, but blatently pirating some of Asia's best new horror movies. TSK TSK! Anonther thought in this topic is the kids/people/? today can't wrap their minds around an intelligent, non super high-tech movie. Movies of yester year messed with your minds without a bunch of useless/irrelevent flash. | |

| How about we stop the remake crap altogether? I understand the desire, of course. A lot of those movies just look bad now. Just like a lot of metal CDs that came out in the 80s sound bad now. The problem with movies that while the updated versions look better, they lack the passion of the originals. You know they're being remade to simply update the look of the movie, which renders it a failure almost immediately. |

| Haven't seen the remakes of "Halloween" or "Texas Chainsaw" but I thought the "Amityville" re-do was OK...
I saw a trailer for a new remake of "Prom Night" on IMDB today, that's due out soon... sheesh, that movie wasn't very good to begin with!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

It is understandable why they do remakes or turn TV shows into movies. Have you seen any previews of movies with origional ideas? Few are good, most are pathetic. Hollywood can't seem to come up with origional stuff without releasing crap so it's only natural to use ideas that have already been done before.

You've nailed about 90% of the movies made today. What's next,a Jaws remake ? That's something that definitely doesn't need redone.

That movie was horrible but I saw it in the theaters when I was really young and I'll never forget the guys head rollling on to the dance floor, kept me from going to my prom! |

| Also can we stop with the remakes of Japanese horror movies. The US versions are nowhere near as good as the originals IMO. I'm dreading the day that Hollywood decides to remake one of my favorite Asian horror movies "Audition". | |

Although I never saw the origionals, I really liked both Grudge moveis. The first one had me constantly jumping out of my seat, while the second one sent chills up my spine on many occasions.

| I must be honest and say I didn't actually see the US versions of The Grudge. I figured I didn't need to because the reviews told me what I needed to know. People raved about The Ring. Pffft...nothing compared to Ringuu in my opinion. And now we have The Eye. Again, I haven't seen it but just seeing the trailers and reading reviews tells me all I need to know. The Japanese just have a way with "atmospheric", other-worldly horror. I just don't think it quite translates in American sensibilities. | |

The thing about the American remakes of the Grudge, is that the guy that worked with the origionals also worked with the re-makes (also I believe the same girl that played the ghost in the originals plays it in the re-makes).

| I didn't think The Grudge was any great shakes. I felt it started off promising but none of the "loose ends" were tied up by the end of it. Never understood the whoop-de-doo about "The Ring" either. Saw it, thought it was just "OK," didn't think it was particularly scary. I think the main reason I watched it was cuz I have a mad woody for Naomi Watts. I never bothered to see the second one. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

The Grudge didn't tie off the loose ends because it is an ongoing story.

Well yea, I understand that, but it also didn't leave me with any desire to see the follow up, either. For me it just fell completely apart in the last half hour. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I still prefer the mid 1970s remake of "King Kong" (w/Charles Grodin, Jessica Lange, and Jeff Bridges) over the Peter Jackson version. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
