Ronnie Montrose died sat. March 3 at the age of 64 after a 5 year battle with prostate cancer. Best known with Sammy Hagar on the S/T album with such classics like Space Station #5, Bad Motor Scooter, Rock The Nation. IMO that album is one of the best albums of all time. Later he formed Gamma and put out 4 Gamma albums. He will thoroughly be missed and may you RIP Ronnie!

this is sad. I've been a fan of Ronnie Montrose's music since '75 or '76. The older I get, the more people die. This fact of life depresses me.

May he rest in peace. The first Montrose album is one of my all time favorites. I've owned it on 8-track, vinyl, and now, on CD. My son and Ronnie Montrose shared the same birthday, November 29th. I just learned that today.

Deepest sympathies about your father, TheGreatDuck. That's terrible.
I regret to say my knowledge of Ronnie Montrose is limited beyond a handful of songs (and mostly because Iron Maiden covered a few of them). Always one of those "I need to check this out some more later..." situations. I liked what I heard and I know he influenced many prominent guitarists. Definitely a shame.

He had a monster guitar tone and I was a fan of his ever since I put on Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison and They Only Come Out At Night by Edgar Winter Group.

So sorry to hear Duck, my prayers are with you. IMO Jump On It after Sammy left is a very underated album. I thought it was the 2nd best next to their classic S/T one.
