| Made a major beer snob run today. Nothing but stouts and Belgians. Even picked up a gift set of Belgians complete with a glass constructed specifically for drinking Belgian ales. I learned that yesterday at International Tap House; they serve you your order in a different style glass depending on what kind of beer it is. For Belgians, they use a fluted style glass that looks like a brandy snifter so you can smell the flowery fruity hops. Stouts just come in a regular beer glass. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Tasty. I've heard those extra hot wings are killer! Literally. While I love hot stuff, it just isn't worth the "aftermath" IMO. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Well one of my latest experimental purchases was a total bust. Samuel Adams Cinder Bock. I'm a big fan of bock beers but this was just awful. Check out this review from BeerAdvocate.com: - Quote :
- Sure enough, this beer is a rauch one. The aroma is woody, with peat smoke, some hints of sweet caramel, and bacon.
Lots of smoky summer sausage up front, some sweetness in the middle like toffee and caramel, but finishes off smoky strong.
And that's what it tasted like; bacon beer. I couldn't even finish the glass; poured it and the remainder of the bomber down the drain. Blecch. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Never heard of that. If it got you off of mass produced crap, it's gotta at least be decent. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| It's a Portland craft beer, one of the first. My friends were drinking Coors Light etc. and I could never choke it down. Mctarnahan's is what I'd call a blue collar beer maker. | |

| I'll have to keep my eyes open at my new favorite beer store. They get craft brews from all over the country.
BTW, aren't you out west somewhere? My favorite brewery is out there; North Coast. Check out Brother Thelonius Ale or Old Rasputin Russian Stout. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah definitely. It's not really sweet per se; it's like a cross between wine and beer. Hard to explain. Drinking an Old Rasputin now. Mmmmmmmmm.... _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Mind if I rant for a minute?
It's been an extraordinarily sh*tty day here at Casa Del Freddy. My 4 year old came to my wife and I this AM saying his "ear hurt." When we took a look we found that he had a tick nestled in on the back of his ear lobe. We figure he must've picked it up while playing outside in the warm weather over the past few days. Naturally, the kid freaks. So my wife gets the tweezers, I put the kid in a hold and we go to work trying to pull it out... no dice, the little #@$#'er is in too deep. Soooo...off to the doctor. There it took me AND one of the nurses to hold my kid down while the doc pried it out with a thin tweezer and forceps. After listening to my kid scream and holler the entire time (to say nothing of repeatedly kicking me in the nuts while I was holding him down), I felt like I'd just gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson.
The icing on the cake? As I was giving my copay at the front desk on the way out the wife texts me to tell me that a very long time, very dear family friend has passed away. I didn't tell my son anything at the time, we waited till my older boy got home from school and we broke the news to them together. THAT was tough.
The point of this? I NEED A FRIGGIN BEER. So when the kids said they wanted pizza for dinner, I made sure we went to the pizza place next door to the discount liquor purveyor, where I ran in for a 12 pack of Yuengling Lager while our order was being prepared. Ahhhhh, sweet relief!!!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I'm enjoying a Samuel Adams Imperial Stout and its 9.5 ABV goodness. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
