I don't think they are overrated, in fact I would say "A Farewell To Kings" is rather underrated these days, very few people seem to pay attention to either that album or Hemispheres. Permanent Waves is a bridge album between the progressive era and their more streamlined approach to follow on Moving Pictures, so it's basically it's own animal. Most people seem to only know the songs Spirit of Radio and Free Will, a shame really because the whole album is great.
Well, Hemispheres is an excellent album, there's no question about that!!

| Today I just re-Visited KREATOR's 'Renewal' (After like a Decade of not Spinning it) , boy Mille and company did try their utmost effort to sound like NIRVANA, Seattle-flavoured Teutonic Thrash, anyone? | |

| I'm quite surprised that no one has mentions Lock Up The Wolves as DIO's worst album - not that I personally hate it, it just seems to be universally slammed for being boring and forgetable.
I really like Magica - haven't heard Angry Machines, though.

Lock Up The Wolves is better than Angry Machines - that album just did not click with me at all

I don't know, I've always liked the album and felt it still sounded very much like Kreator. Maybe less than the albums that precede and follow it, but I've really never found anything to dislike about it

| Dio's stuff with BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW was excellent for the most part, but half his solo albums could tie for "worst album" in his discography. He really needed a good guitarist collaborator/co-songwriter to complement his amazing voice and he rarely had one.

I somewhat agree. Though I do enjoy his solo stuff, I'd take Rising or Long Live Rock N Roll over any of them

| Lock up the Wolves is a bit dull, really. I don't like it that much, especially compared to the first four. But I'd say it's still a lot, a lot better than Angry Machines. At least it sounds good, even if the songs are not there. | |

Hmm, interesting. Nothing about Renewal reminds me of Nirvana or even grunge to be honest. It sounds like a mix of thrash, punk and industrial to me. I actually like the album and I think it's an interesting mix of styles, but I hate the production. Those songs all sound about ten times better live. Ok, my picks... Dio - Angry Machines. Cool cover art though. Exodus - Does that re-recording of Bonded by Blood with Rob Dukes count? Kreator - Outcast. Riot - Through the Storm. I don't actually hate that one (I don't think Riot ever put out a truly *bad* album), but it's my least played for some reason. Megadeth - Risk, easily. Deep Purple, Queen and Rush - I do like and respect all of these bands and own a few albums each, but unfortunately I don't own enough of their discographies to say what I think is their worst. I'm working on it!
