"10 worst album covers in hard rock"

As picked by readers of Kerrang. Thoughts on this list?:

There are worse ones than that list. But this is Kerrang, which means I wouldn't care one bit.

Wow, Kerrang Must've been missing out a Lot of strong contenders here, their list is pretty conservative actually

My only question: Where is Metal Church - Hanging in the Balance?

I'm surprised that Lovedrive made the top of the list seeing as it's by the same band that gave us one super-disturbing album cover with Virgin Killer.

Am I right, people?

How anybody could think Lovedrive and Born Again are bad album covers is beyond me.

I would've included the cover of Exodus' Force of Habit.

Those Dwarves albums (Covers and content) are pure genious!

No cover is worse than Virgin Killer. Born Again is bad, but not that bad. As is Stryper.

That Cover is like actually a work of art, Even Exodus' Force of Habit, they're a bit abstract and odd but beautiful, there's definitely a Picasso thingy in it

It is a bad cover. The artist who created it hates it. He was working with Ozzy and Sabbath at the same time, so to avoid the conflict of interest he thought that he would make a cover that was so bad that Sabbath would surely reject it. Iommi thought it was controversial and would sell albums. Ian Gillan, who didn't see the cover until it was released, was embarrassed by it and thinks it is one of the worst album covers ever.

The cover is not "bad" as in poorly done. It might be in poor taste but it's well executed and by now is a classic in the genre. When people say an album cover is "bad," I think that they mean poorly done or amateurish. Now, we can argue that the artist that did the cover was lazy because all he did was take a picture of a baby and paint it red with devil horns, but that's a different criticism.

Force of Habit has Hard Rock elements plus half of Kerrang's List are classified as Metal/Extreme Metal

Well, I completely agree with the Black Sabbath - Born Again pick. I always hated that album cover.

Plus I was never fond of the cover for the Spaghetti Incident either.

But Battles In The North... I like that one.

calling someone ignorant is pretty harsh. Feel free to disagree with their list but labeling them as ignorant is unwaranted.
