Anyone heard ov a covers album, named "EvIL Ultimate Metal Covers #30" (2003)? It features Savatage covering Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters", and I WANT ONE!!

Apparently the dude posting the video labeled it wrong. Actually it's only Jon Oliva from Savatage singing. Lemmy played bass, Gregg Bissonette played drums, and Bob Balch on guitar. The CD was Metallic Assault: a Tribute to Metallica.

I briefly owned that cd. It was a bunch of different musicians covering Metallica songs. It was ok, but nothing that really stood out. If anything it made me want to listen to the origianls more.

I have "Metallic Attack - The Ultimate Metallica Tribute Album". That album has Dark Angel, Death Angel, Motorhead, Flotsam & Jetsam, Testament, etc. doing Metallica coves.

I completely agree. When a cover is so closely following the original; i question the
entire point of it. It's just karaoke. You should try to add something
different to the song; imposing your own personality upon it while
retaining the spirit and essence of the original. Wrathchild by
Ultimatum is a fine, albeit obvious, example of a cover done right.

My thoughts exactly. A friend sent me this cover a few years back, and whilst it almost is a carbon copy, it's great hearing Jon sing it.
