Yeah, it is. Unfortunately his later solo albums and his stuff with Homemade Sin just doesn't measure up IMO.

It got a rave review in today's paper, which is not exactly a surprise since I'm in New Jersey. I think all media outlets in this state are required by law to kiss Bruce Springsteen's ass.

I really really like it personally. It has got a lot of punch lyrically and musically it is VERY diverse. There is a strong folk, blues and gospel overtones throughout the album. There is one blunder of a track but the rest are really superb. Lots of passion and feeling on it. Certainly not one of the Boss' 'rockiest' albums but still great. Really deserves the rave reviews.

Our paper gave it 3 outta 4 stars too. No surprise there either. Philly's like his 2nd home. We pucker up for the boss just as much. Nothing short of a hand-job from Patti Scialfa would get me to buy it though.

I also read that they had been playing most of these songs live for the last few years and they gleaned a number of "solos" from the late "Big Man" and incorporate those into the album.

I'm a Boss fan, so I'm probably biased but I like what I've heard...very old Boss vibe.

Clarence Clemmons performs two sax solos on the album on two separate tracks. Awesome solos I must add.

Actually as far as I know only three songs were played live for the last few years: the title track, "American Land" and "Land Of Hope And Dreams".

And yes it has a very oldschool Boss vibe. Reminds me even of "Born To Run" in certain places!

Unfortunatly the Answer disc is going back. I paid for the 2-disc limited edition and the regular single-disc edition showed up. I've already contacted the seller on Amazon. Hopefully this won't become a big pain in the ass getting either a refund or the right item.

Woohoo! I finally bought my first CDs of 2012!

On a whim I took a trip up the road to Best Buy and picked up the following...

Metallica BEYOND MAGNETIC EP
Anthrax EXTENDED VERSIONS
Megadeth EXTENDED VERSIONS

...price for all three was less than what I usually pay for one full length CD.

Now I feel better. I was seriously startin' to jones out big time for new stuff!!!

...bring on the new Overkill and Accept discs!
