Another drummer that has a unique sound is Ed Warby. I don't know about his work in Gorefest, but his drumming is an integral part of Ayreon's sound (just listen to the difference between the drumming on Universal Migrator Pt. 1 compared to the rest of the discography).

Yeah I like Ed quite a bit ... heck speaking of Ed's... what about Alex Van Halen? that's a signature sound that can't be easily replaced I think

Ed Warby rules! Great drummer and very cool guy! His drumming in Gorefest was GREAT!!
